IMPROVEMENT IN EXTENSION-TABLES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 170,369, dated November 23, 1875; application filed September 8, 1875.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE HEYL, of the city of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Extension- Tables 5 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this. specification.

The objectof my invention is to provide a means for storing the extra leaves of anextension-table without resorting to the usual unsightly racks or to the expensive appliances heretofore employed; and this I accomplish in the manner shown in the accompanying drawing, in whichslides B are ribs or flanges a, for a purpose.

This arrangement necessitates the use of an additional leg for supporting .the receptacle, the movable slides not possessing sufficient strength in themselves to maintain the increased weight. The additional leg not only increases the cost of the table, but is a 0011- stant source of annoyance,'owing to the difficulty of bracing it so that it will not give way when the table is moved. All these ob jections areobviated by forming a receptacle within the permanent slides B B, which, being secured to and firmly supported by the stationary frame, will easily sustain any Weight which they may be required to support.

I claim- An extension-table in which flanges a a .are arranged upon the permanent slides B, to

support the folded extra leaves, all as set forth.
