SUPPORT FOR FLEXIBLE DOORS F KITCHEN CABINETS.
Application filedeanuary 28, 1928. Serial No. 250,213.
This invention relates to supports for the flexible slat doors of kitchem cabinets. In accordance with the present invention, two supports are provided for each cabinet door,
each support comprising a sheet metal plate of oblong form, rounded at its ends, and having its marginal portion depressed below the body of the. plate and thence flanged upwardly, forming a relatively deep oblong guide groove with rounded end portions, and having a fin projecting atone side. The flangeis cut away at one gap which will permit. one edge of the door to enter the guide groove, and the fin serves as a distance-piece to space thesupport from the top of the'cabinet or compartment thereof, to prevent the door from rubbing against 1 the top.
These supports are secured to opposite sides of the cabinet by screws .which pass through suitably located openings in the sup-ports, and the supports can be quickly and accurately positioned by arranging the distancevpieces against'the top of the compartment and the ends of the supports against the front wallthereof. In the accompanying drawing, 3 Fig. 1 is a vertical section through part of a kitchen cabinet, taken from front to rear,
showing one of the door" supports in side VIEW; I Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2-2 of Fig. (-1, the door being partly broken away; 7 i Fig. Sis a persp'ective'view of one of the door supports; and,
Fig. 4 is a section on the line 4'4L of Fig. 1.
.Referring to the drawing, (1 represents a cabinet having .a doorway 1 and strips 2 ary ranged adjacent the doorway, to form grooves '3 which receive the edges of the flexible-door 4. The door supports 1) and b are arranged.
upon the sides 5 and 6 of the cabinet, in position to receive the door. As shown, each door support comprises the oblong sheet metal plate 7 having its marginal portion depressedbelow the body of the plate and thence flanged upwardly, as shown at 8. forming an oblong guide groove 9, straight in its central portlons and rounded at the ends. A fin 10 projects outwardly from the flange 8, along one side of the support, and forms a distanceend, to provide apiece for setting the support, and the flange is cut away at one end of the support, as
shown at 11 and 12,,to provide a gap g through which one edge of the door may enter the groove. The end 11 of the guide is aboutmidway of the curved portion 8 of the flange.
In placing the supports in the cabinet, each support is placed with its fin .or distancepiece 10 against the top wall '13 of the compartment to which the door is applied, and the curved 'end 8 of the flange is placed against the front wall of the compartment above the doorway 1. The support is then secured to the side wall by screws 15, which pass through the perforations 14 in the support. In these positions of the su ports, the edgesof the door may pass throng the gaps in the flanges of the supports and into the grooves 9, as clearly shown in the drawing.
The fins 10 constitute distance-pieces for, spacing the supports from the shelf or top 13, so that the door will not rub against the top. When the distance-pieces are against thetop 13 and the curved ends 8 of -the flanges are against. thedoorway, both of the supports will be positioned with their grooves directly opposite one another. I
What I claim is: 1. A' support for flexibly connected slat doors comprising an oblong sheet metal plate having'its marginal portion depressed below the body ofthe plate and thence flanged u ywardly, forming a relatively deep oblong guide groove with rounded end portions, the flange being cut away-at one end to permit the edge, of the door to pass into the groove. '2. A support for flexibly connected slat doors comprising an oblong sheet metal plate having its marginal portion depressed below the body of the plate and thence flanged upwardly, forming a relatively deep 7 oblong guide groove with rounded end portions, and having afin on one side eiitending outwardly. from the flange, the flange being cutaway at one end to permit the edge of the door to pass into the groove.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature.
