Should it be desirable to use sheets of covering material narrower than the board to be formed, or if for any other purpose it` should be desirable to have a joint in the sheath on one face of the board, a simple joint Without overlapping edges may be formed as illustrated in Fig. l by disposing the opposed edges 23 and 24 of the sheath in abutting relation and positioning a strip Q5 of suitable material beneath the butt joint, this strip being secured to one or both of the edges Q3 and 24 by a suitable adhesive or by the plastic material forming the body l1 of the boai'd, if preferred, in which event the strip 25 is provided with one or lnore rows of perforations 20 through which the plastic material of the body is extruded under pressure so as to form a bond between the opposed faces of the covering material. Similarly the channel member-12 and thc upper sheet 16 may be perforated as indicated at 30 and respectively to permit access of the plastic material to the under faces of the overlapped ends of the'sheets for adhesive purposes.
It Will be apparent from the foregoing that my invention contemplates a wall board which 'is strengthened and reentorced along both edges, or either, by overlapping the margins of the covering sheet or sheets or by providing a 'channel-shaped edge liner which may contain laminated reenforeing edge or, if preferred, both types of reent'orcement may be employed so as to produce a strong and durable board.
If a single sheet instead of two sheets of covering material is referred the joint may be made along one edge, and formed in any of the manners disclosed, or it may be of the butt joint type located between the edges of the board as shown in Fig. l.
In any of the forms of joint disclosed, the lower ply of covering material may be pro vided with as many perforations as may be advisable and arranged in any desired relation.
' I claim:
l. A wall board, comprising a composition body provided with a rcenforced margin comprising a channel-shaped reenforcing element straddling the edge of said composition, and enclosing a laminated reenforcenient disposed between tlie edge of the composition and the connecting portion of the clement.
2. A vvall board, comprising a composition body provided with a laminated edge, and.
a separate reenforcing element enclosing said edge and the margin of the composition.
3. A wall board, comprising a coniposltion body provided with a reenforced laminated edge, and covering material enclosing said body and forming a double ply reenforcement along the edges of the board inwardly along the face of the board a limited distance from said edges.
