Application filed July 15 l This invention relates to a 'paper or-cardboard. box formed approximately in the shape of a horse shoe with its curved side wall extending around the curved outer side of the box conformingto the outer s1de of. a horse shoe, and an inwardly curved side wall portion-connecting the ends of Vsaid tirst side wall portion.

An object of the invention is to lmprove the construction of such boxby providing a side wall composed of 'a single piece of material having one edge 'attached to the top or the bottoni of the box and having its ends connected atone of the corners, and' iin proved means for strengthening the connection ofthe side wall with the top or bottom of the box throughout the length of the side wall.

Another object of the invention is to improve the 'construction of a. horse shoeshaped box whereby the manufacture Vor production of the boxes is facilitated,A and the cost of manufacture reduced and abetter `product obtained.

Other objects will appear from the following descripticn` reference being made to the drawing in which Fig. 1 is a plan view of my improved box with a part of the outer sheet being broken away to show clearly the construction by which the side walls are attached to the top and bottom of the box, respectively.

Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line', 2-2 of Fig. 1.

Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing one of the inner corners of the box whereby the ends of the side walls are connected.

Fig. 4 is a perspective view showing one of the outer corners of the box.

The top and bottom of my improved box are of 'duplicate construction, except that-.the

side' wall of the top encloses a slightly larger area than the side wall of the bottom,. 'so that, when the top is placed on the bottom'. the sidewall of the top closely surrounds the vside wall of the bottom of the box. Since the top and bottom are of duplicate .construction with` this exception, adescription of one applies also to the other. and like reference numerals are applied to similar parts of the top and bottom of the box.

The outer wall of the bottom and the top' of the box,respectively, comprises an elongated strip 4 of cardboard or the like -of a 65 length slightly greater than' the distance aroundthe' innersection 3. I claim:-
