MOVABLE FEATURE FIGURE TOY.
Application filed February 19, 1926'. Serial No. 89,386.
away from the lighting means, whereby the user will not be in danger of being burnt.
Other objects and advantages will appear in the following specification, and the novel features of the invention will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings forming part of this application, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device, and
Figure 2 is a section along the line 22 of Figure 1.
In carrying out my invention, 1 provide 30 a base 1 having an integral standard 2. A
block 3 is rigidly mounted upon the upper end of the standard 2 and carries a head 4. The head 4 is provided with eye openings 5, a nose 6, and a mouth 7. An L-shaped supporting rod 8 is rigidly mounted at its lower end to the block 3 and extends up-' wardly within the head 4. The outwardly turned portion 9 or" the supporting rod 8 extends toward the front of the head 4 and is rigidly secured thereto by a strip 10. A bell crank lever 11 is secured at its fulcrum to the outwardly turned portion 9. A wire 12 is secured to the upper end of the bell crank lever 11, extends downwardly, and is pivotally secured to a jaw 13. The 'jaw 13 is hinged at 14 to the block 3 and extends upwardly forming the lower lip of the mouth 7.
A ring 15 is secured tothe jaw 13 in the manner shown in Figure 2. An angularshaped sheet 16 is secured to the inner wall of the head 4 and the jaw 13, and completely covers the inner portion of the mouth 7 The sheet 16 is provided with a tongue member 17, one end of which is rigidly 5 which the holding mechanism is positioned mounted upon the sheet, the other end of which extends upwardly a slight. distance, as shown in Figure 2. A sqnawker 18 is rigidly mounted upon the inner wall of the head 4 above the sheet 16-and to one side of the nose 6. The squawker 18 is provided with a fixed plate 19 and a movable plate 20 connected to each other by a flexible casing 21. The fixed plate 19 has an opening 22 over which is stretched a band 23. The movable plate 20 is operatively connected to the jaw 13.
A pair of eyes 24 is positioned, back of the openings 5 and within the head 4. The
eyes 24 are pivotally secured to bars 25,
which in turn are rigidly secured to the outwardly turned portion 9 of the supporting rod 8. A wire 26 is pivotally secured to the inner wall of one of the eyes 24 and extends back and through the lower portion of the bell crank lever 11. The free end of the wire 26 is then brought forward and pivotally secured to the innermost portion of the other eye 24. A tension sprin' 27 is connected at one end to the outwarc ly extending portion 9, and at the other end to the lower portion of the bell crank lever 11. The head 4 is provi-ded'with a cover 28 and a lamp or candle container 29.
From the foregoing description of the Various parts of'the device, the operation thereof may be readily understood. The cover 28 is first removed and a light, such as a candle, is placed within the'container 2,9,
and a cover again put in place. The device a may then be gripped by the standard 2, the
operator extending one finger through the 27. This operation can be repeated as often as'desired. It will be observed that the base I 1 can be placed upon a table, pedestal, or
any desired support.
I have shown the head 4 in the shape of a 1. A device of the type described comprising a support, a head mounted upon said support, eye members mounted tor move-- ment toward and away from each other in said head, a movable jaw H18111b81,2111d.
means operativeiy connecting said eye members and said aw member for simultaneously moving said eye members toward then away from each other when's'aid jaw mem her is actuated.
7 2. A device of the type described comprising a support, a head mounted upon said support, eye -members mounted for movement toward and away from each other in said head, a squawker, a movable j aw member, a movable mouth member secured to the inner walls of said head and said jaw member, means operatively connecting said eye members and said jaw member for opening saidmouth member and moving said eye members toward and away from eachother when said jaw member is actuated, and means operatively connecting said squawker to said jaw membert'or actuating said squawker when said j am" is actuated.
