COMBINED NAME-CARD HOLDER AND LOCK FDR AN OFFICE SEAL PRESS.
Application filed February 2, 1925. Serial No. 6,268.
The objects of the invention are to provide a combined iame plate holder and looking; device for a seal pressing device which is simply and inexpensively constructed and is attachable to any cast metal seal press such are commonly employed in impressing notar and corporation or other documentary seals upon paper.
The device is slidably mounted upon the pivot shaft or pin for the lever of the seal 1 and comprises a folded sheet of met rearwardly extending wings slotted for adjustment upon said pivot pin and having: its front portion positioned vertically and constructed to receive a nameplate.
The invention is hereafter more fully described illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings 1 is a vertical section of a seal press showing-g the manner of applying the device thereto; 2 is an end elevation thereof; Fig. 3 is a plan thereof; Fig. -l is a section showing the lever in the loci: position and Fig. 5 is a perspective of the combined name-plate holder and locking device. Fig". 6 is a perspective 01" the device formed in two portions.
in these views, 1 represents standard 01 the die press; 2 is the base 3 is the elevated die thereon and l is the matrix die which .is mounted upon the shaft (5) vertically movable in the standard, and 6 is the lever pivoted upon the pin (7) and provided with the cam (8) which engages with and depresses the shaft a spring (9) returns the shalt when released by the lever. The lever is also provided with the projection (10) which normally engages with the shoulder (10 upon the upper end of the shaft to prevent the lever from moving forward beyond the vertical position. These parts are employed in the construction of the ordinary seal press and do not apply to the present invention.
in the attached device which includes this invention 11, 11 are wings which are turned backward from a transverse body (1 having a locking upper edge (18) and are longitudinally slotted at 14:, 14-. and the pivot pin (7) passes through them and supports the device in place.
lVhen the lever is depressed to engage the matrix die with the elevated portion of the die beneath, the body (12) is moved bacl iwa 'd to engage the edge (15;) with the prcqection (10) upon the lever, thus locking the lever and dies in their pressing posi tion.
In front of the transverse body (12) is positioned the name plate holder or trauma (15), which may be connected with the body (12) at its lower edge at 16 and the vertical ends of the frame (15) are turned in ward and backward at 17, 17, thus cooperating with the connecting portion (16) to form a convenient rest and retaining means for a name plate.
The device is preferably composed of in tegrally attached parts and formed of sheet metalbut may be made in any desired manner within the spirit and scope or the claims.
In Fig. 6 the device is shown formed in two portions attached together.
Here the or d holder 15 is shown riveted back to back to the body 12, and card holding flanges 16' and 1'? turn outwardly therefrom.
Having described the invention what claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a combined locking device and name plate'holder tor a seal press, a body portion provided with rearwardly extending wings, said wings being horizontally slotted, said body having a locking upper edge and a name card or plate having card holding members on its vertical and lower edges and rigidly connected with said body.
2. The combination with the pivoted lever of a seal press and pivot pin therefor of a combined lock and name card holder therefor comprising a body portion pro readily pin passes and having an upper locking edge, said lever being provided with a shoulder and said locking edge being adapted to engage with said shoulder on said lever, when said lever is in the pressing position.
3. In a card or name plate holder for an office seal press, the combination with the lever and pivot pin therefor and standards of said press of a metal name card or platel holder, and slotted rearwardly extending 10 Wings secured to said holder said Wings being adjustably mounted upon said pivot pm.
In testimony whereof, I hereunto set my hand this 10th day of October, 1924.
JOHN W. SVJARIZ.
