Abstract

509,033. Vehicle seats. HARVEY & CO., Ltd., M. Oct. 6, 1937, No. 27030. Void. Convention date, Oct. 17, 1936. [Class 52 (ii)] A. vehicle seat is supported by means which, when the seat is moved forwardly, cause the rear part to be lowered and the front part to be raised. For example, the seat is carried by a frame 1, 3, Fig. 2, which is supported by members moving in inclined slots 5 in members 6. The members 6 are secured to a plate 7 secured to the vehicle floor so as to be adjustable in a, fore-and-aft direction. The seat frame may be free to slide, or locking means such as a ratchet-toothed rack allowing free movement in one direction, and movement in the other direction when the ratchet is released may be provided. In the form shown in Fig. 6, a pivoted rack 18 holds the seat against movement in either direction unless it is released by lifting the handle 20.
