HAIR-STRAIGHTENING TOOL.

Application filed February 20, 1925. Serial No. 10,635.

My invention has reference to a hairstraightening tool, and has for its purpose to assist in taking the twists and bends out of kinky hair which is characteristic of 5 some races of people.

The device comprises a pair of jaws 1 and 2, pivotally united as at a, and fitted, re-

!5 spectively, with handles 3 and 4. The inner face of the jaw 1 is flattened, as at 5, and fixed therein at intervals are pins 6. The adjacent face of the jaw 2 is similarly fiattened, as at 7, and said face is provided at intervals with openings 8, adapted to receive the pins 6.

The jaw 1 is preferably of a solid construction, and the jaw 2 of a shell formation, as shown in Fig. 3. In use, the jaws are engaged with a strand of hair, and the tool drawn outwardly, the kinks being re-.

To prevent the hair from being too tightly clamped between the jaws 1 and 2, a stop 9 similar to that of the tool first herein de '45 scribed, the hair being drawn between the flatfaces, but the pins 6 and openings 8 being omitted.

In case the operation is not at first fully successful, it may be repeated until the de- 50 sired resultsare secured.

What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

1. In a device of the class described, a pair of jaws pivotally united, and provided with means for operation thereof, cooperating faces on said jaws, and interengaging pins and openings carried by said jaws at regular intervals.

- 2. A device of the class described, comprising a pair of jaws, pivotally united, and operating handles attached thereto, said jaws being provided with cooperating flattened faces; inter-acting pins and openings in said jaws; and means for limiting he 65 degrees to which said jaws may be closed.
