Re if known that we. iii-xvii ii. Law; and HERMAN W'ANM-JR, ciiizens of the United Shiites, Iliiiili at How York city, in the county of New ork and State of New c cizoin new and useful Improvements in Wm lowing is a speciiioaiion @ur invention 17c proved foi'm of One of ihe objects of our provide a Watch which, can he used in the ordinary manner a'mi "which ciizi'aiso be used as a clock" Another object oi on invention is to provide a combine-oi device of ihc character above mentioned "which can be simply and eifioieniiy manufactured and whose parts can be roadiiy inovoci into a position in which the cicvice servos as clock.
Anoiher object of our invoiiition to provide a, device of the, ciiamctez' above do scribed which simii iic oompact and which shaii have a and ar'i is bic ap pcarzmco.
Oizhcr oiijects of our invention will be set forthin the foiiowing description and draw ings showing," We cmi'ioriimcnts thcreof.

the device iilg. 7 J10 .vs a (is-vice 5117012212" 530 that 1Hustrateci. in Fi i in which the upper half of who case has 2, glass from fittoci therein.
The dev'oo consists of a Watch case comprising a lower part zinci an upper part 4: connecteci by an ordinary hinge 6. The lower park is provided. with a bow 1 and 2e, cletcnt mombor 2 which is connoctcd to the mimic spring); '90, The biado spring 20 is socm'cd io iii from of i-ilc lower member 3 by ordinary iugg s nnci 22 and it has the dei'cnis i8 (1 i9 connected iiKiCiO. The sa d \icciiis i and i9 serve to iioici tiio watch in nor.
The movement cari iingg POl'jOU Of tho wzl'fch i is pivo'ieci to the fronii; part of tho member lower member 3 by moons of a pin ' 1 \CiiUFX:
heiri in a iug which is connected 110 'iiiii iowcs." part of tho movcmcn-i's came? '5".
r The torsion the spiiui sparing S mommiiy urges the movement carrier 3 to the posi tion shown in Fig. 2. The rear end of tho IDOV'SUKQHZC carrier '4" is, provided with pins or lugs 10 and 11 which slide in' grooves 1d ofihe upper member 4.
Hence, when the defiant member 52 is pushed inwardi'v so as is reieaso the upper iiicmbci' 4 of spring S operates to npwarciiy revolve thc movcincnican-i0? i and this causes ti c upper movement 05? he inembci. 4: until the. parts assume the pOSiiiOflS shown in Fig. 2,
In this position the device can be piaccd upon a desk 01' any other convcnieni; piace, WhGP'S it serves as a dock.
The numbers upon the dial can be rendered luminous in the'woii known manner.
The embodiment shown in Fig. '7 has a glass from so that it is not nooossary open the device to see the fliaii The movemoni; carrier 7 is provided with the orciinary wiioiiog deteni; member 8 and other parts of the device may be made ac corciing to the ordinary methods of consiructiii z watches It will as noted that since the pin 12 is iocated "whoily "within the lower Watch case member 3, that this pin and the associated spiral spring remain invisibie when hhe Watch is opened, that is, when it occupies the position shown in Fig. 2. The location of the spimi spring in connection with the pin 12 makes it possibie to make the watch as thin as the orciinar watch. The pins 10 and ii, in combinaiion with the grooves 16 of the upper watch member; act as retainingmeans to prevent the separation of the movement carrier from the cover 4i, when tho WM'Pil is in iho open posiition.
"We have shown. a preferred cn'ibociimont of our invcni'ion but it is clear that numorons changes :1 mi omissiong couid be made without departing from tho spirit of our in vcntion.
We cioini:
the Watch cnsc, the spirui 1. A watch comprising'a first Watch case ar-cut the front thcrcofhy a hinge, spring member, a movement carrier pivoted to said first watch. case member adjacent the front thereof by means of a hinge located Within said first watch case'inember and spaced from the front wall of said first watch case member, a second watch case member connected to said first watch case member by means of a hinge located at the rear of the saidtirstwatch case member spring means comprising a spiral spring associated with the first mentioned hinge and adapted to cause said movement carrier and said second watch case member to be moved away from said watch casemember to an open position 1; 0t said \VfiCCll, and retaining; means mde pendent of said spring means and adapted to hold said movement carrier and said second Watch case member together in the open position of said watch.
2. A watch or the like comprising a first 'atch case member having a second watch case member hinged thereto at the rear thereof, a movement carrier connected to said first Watch case member adjacent the front thereof by a, hinge, spring" means associated withsaid hinge and adapted to urge said movement carries away from said first watch case member, the said second watch case member and the said movement carrier having respective connecting means relalively slidable to each other and adapted to hold said movement carrier and said second watch case member together in the open position of said watch.
8. A watch or the like comprising a lower member having a cover member hinged thereto at the rear thereof? movement carnet/ace? rier connected to the said lower member adnieans associated with said hinge and adapted to urge the said movement carrier away from the said lower member, the said cover member having longitudinal grooves and the said movement carrier having pins adapted to slide in the said grooves.
4. A folding watch case of the character described, con'iprising a hinged cover and body portion having gnideways, a movement case hinged to said cover and means "for guiding; and retaining the free end of said case in said body portion, said means comprising projections adjacent the "free end of i the IDOVOHICIlt case and fitting into said guideways.
5. A watch case comprising in combination a watch, and an outer case composed of two liingedly connected parts, a hinge connecting the watch with the upper part of said outer case, a spring in said hinge, and laterally projecting studs on opposite sides of the watch adapted to slide on the inner edges of the lower part of the outer our signatures.
