(ci. 132-79) This invention relates to a finger-ring and lipstick combination in which the lipstick and its holder` while normally forming apart of the complete article are removable, and when removed uncover a mirror carried by the ring, which mirror is useful in connection with the application to the person of the lipstick.

An objectl of the invention is to provide a combination ofthe kind referred to which is so compact that it may be manufactured within the size limits imposed by the nature of the device,

and which is simple, and so far as the mechanical features are concerned, inexpensive,

Futher objects and advantages will become apparent from the following detailed description in conjunction with the accompanying drawing in which I .have shown two preferred forms of embodiment of the invention.

Referring to the numerals on the drawing, there is shown at 9 the finger encircling band of a finger-ring. Integral with or secured to this band is a generally box-like table 10, which is open at the top as indicated at 11 and which has inwardly directed overhanging edge portions 12, and an open end 14. The bottom of the box on the inside carries a mirror 15. One outer end of the box 10 may be provided with an ornamental extension 16. Cooperative with the box 10 is a lipstick holder comprising a casing 17 within which is slidable a holder proper 18 for a lipstick 19. The holder is reciprocable within the casing 1'1 as by means of a pin 20 secured to the holder, which pin extends through a slot 21 in the bottom of the casing 1'7. The end of the casing 1'? may be provided with an ornamental configuration 22 similar to the extension 16, sc that when the lipstick holder is pushed into the box 10 (see Figs. 1 and 2) the table of the ring presents a symmetrical appearance. When the lipstick holder is inserted into the open end of the box 10 (the right-hand end of Figs. 1 and 4) the projecting end of the -pin 20 is engaged by the right-hand bottom edge of the box 10 (Fig. 2), so that as the insertion of the lipstick holder continues, the lipstick is withdrawn into 05 its casing 1'7. When the lipstick holder is fully inserted in the box a catch 23 formed by slightly bending in the outer edge of a side wall 24 of the box, snaps into an appropriate notch 25 formed in the lipstick holder casing. If desired I may provide a finger-nail notch 26 on the underside of the ornamental projection 22 to facilitate the withdrawal of the lipstick holder from its box.

It has been stated that the inside bottom wall of the box is provided with a mirror 15, which when the lipstick holder is removed is visible through the topopening of the box 10, so that the mirror may be used by the person in the app lication of the lipstick; andobviously when the lipstick holder is in position as shown in Figs. l and 2, the mirror is concealed. The top surface of the lipstick holder casing 17 may be ornamented in any desired fashion so as to complete,

in an artistic sense, the ensemble.

In Figs. 6 to 8 inclusive the ring comprises 85 a band part 9 as before and a generally flat table 27 having opposing grooves 28 constituting guideways for a cooperating removable lipstick holder. Between these guideways there is a mirror 29. Also at one end of the table there is an ornamental extension 30, which also serves as a stop for the complementary lipstick holder. The lipstick holder is in general like that already described, except that it is provided with tongues 31 which slide in the grooves 28. One 95 end of the lipstick holder when it is shoved home contacts with the stop member 30, and the other end of the lipstick holder is provided with an extension 32 corresponding to and symmetrical with extension 30. The operation of the lipstick holder is as already described with reference to the form shown in Figs. 1 to 5 inclusive, that is to say, the lipstick holder is provided with a sliding lipstick which is controlled by a pin 20 slidable in a slot in the bottom of the lipstick holder. When the lipstick holder is removed, as in Fig. 8, the mirror 29 is exposed, and when the lipstick holder is in place, so that the ring is complete, the mirror is concealed.

It will be obvious that the device may be in- 11o corporated in the form of a bracelet instead of a ring, and that many other variations are possible within the scope of the appended claims.

I claim:

l. In a device of the type described the combination of a table having a substantially at upper surface portion and being provided with guideways and a member slidable in and removable from said guideways to cover and uncover said substantially at upper surface portion, said member completing the symmetrical configuration of said device when seated in said guide- Ways.

2. In a device of the type described the cornbination of a table provided with guideways, a reflecting member permanently positioned on the upper surface of said table between said guideways, and a member slidable in and removable from said guideways, said slidable member covering said reecting member when seated in said guideways.

3. In a device of the type described the comb'- nation of a table, a mirror permanently positioned in the base of said table, guideways above and at the edges of said mirror, and a container member slidable in and removable from said guideways to cover and uncover said mirror.

4. In a device of the type described the combination of a table, a mirror permanently positioned in the base of said table, guideways above and at the edges of said mirror, and a container member slidable in and removabe from said guideways to cover and uncover said mirror, said container member being shaped to complete the symmetrical configuration of the device when seated in said guideways.

5. In a device of the type described the combination of a table, a mirror permanently positioned in the base of said table, guideways above and at the edges of said mirror, a stop member at one end of said guideways, and a container member slidable in and removable from the other end of said guideways to cover and uncover said mirror.

6. In a finger ring, a finger encircling portion, a table having a at upper portion, a reflecting member fastened against said flatportion, guideways at opposite sides of said reecting member, and a container for a sliding member, said container being slidable in and removable from said guideways, to cover and uncover said reflecting member.

7. In a finger ring, a finger encircling portion, a table having a at upper portion, a reflecting member fastened against said flat portion, guideways at opposite sides of said reflecting member, a container for a sliding member, said container being slidable in and removable from said guideways to cover and uncover said reflecting member, and means for locking the container in position covering the reflecting member.

8. In a nger ring, a nger encircling portion, a table having a flat upper portion, a reflecting member fastened against said flat portion, guideways at opposite sides of 'said reecting member, a container having a member slidable therein, said container being slidable in and removable from said guideways to cover and uncover said reecting member and a control pin for said member slidable in the container eX- tending through one side of said container in position to strike the end of the table in sliding the container into the guideways when the member extends beyond the end of the container.

9. In a nger ring, a finger encircling portion, a table having a flat upper portion, a reflecting member fastened against said flat portion, guideways at opposite sides of said reflecting member, a raised stop of ornamental configuration at one end of the guideways, and a container having a member sidable therein, said container being slidable in and removable from said guideways to cover and uncover said reecting member, the body and the end portion of said container being shaped to complete the ornamental configuration of the device.
