' to the typewriter to support matter to be copied in plain view of the operator so as to facilitate copying.

A further object is to provide a copy support of the character specified which may be conveniently assembled .or knocked down and which when knocked down or collapsed will occupy but a small amount of space.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.

In the drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of the invention, the numeral 5 designates a typewriter table. It is obvious, however, that the support forming the subject matter of this application may be mounted on a typewriter desk and is not in any way restricted to use in connection with a table. The typewriter is designated by the numeral 6 and is arranged between the pairs of standards 7 as illustrated in Fig. 1.

In carrying out the invention the lower portions of the supports 7 are extended through the return bends 9 at the end portions of the base strips 10.

Fig. 4 plainly illustrates that the upper portions of the standards 7 are bifurcated as indicated at 12 todefine legs which flatly contact with opposite sides of end cross strips 14. The end strips arein turn formed with notches 15 tosnugly receive the upper portions of the standards whereby a secure although detachable connection is provided between the end strips 14 and the standards.

As illustrated in Figs. 1 and 4 a-pair of spaced parallel connecting strips 16 are provided at their ends with notches '17 to receive the upper edge portions of the end strips 14 and the end strips are also provided with notches 18 whichreceive the end portions of the longitudinally extending connecting strips 16. This provides a means whereby the longitudinally extending strips 16 are detachably connected to the end strips.

14 without the aid of nails or other separate fastening devices- 1 It might be said that the standards 7, the. end strips 14 and the connecting strips 16 provide a frame upon which the copy'supporting members are mounted and it will be seen thatthe copy supporting unit consists of a pair .of cross strips 20 having notches 21 which receive the intermediate portions of the connecting strips 16 and the connecting strips are provided withnotchs 22 for the reception of the end portions of the cross r strips. This interlocking connectionbetween the cross strips 20 andthe connecting strips 16 prevents turning or bending of the con-. necting strips and holds the frame work together.

A pair of copy supporting limbs 25 are provided at their lower ends with notches 26 to snugly receive the forward portions of the cross strips 20 and the forward portions ofthe .cross strips 20 are provided withinclined notches 27 for the reception of the notched lower portions of the limbs 25.

The limbs 25 are supportedin an inclined position by short braces 28 the upper portions of which are notched as indicated at 29 for securely engaging the intermediate portions of the copy supporting limbs 25.

Fig. 4 illustrates that the intermediate portions of the limbs: 25 have their opposite sides notched as indicated at 30 for the reception of the upper portions of the braces 28.

More specifically, the notched lower ends of the braces 28 are received in inclined notches in the cross strips 20.

The upper portions of the members are reduced as indicated at 36 and are extended through apertures 37 in the end portions of a top connecting strip 38. Fig. 4c illustrates that an intermediate support 40 has its upper portion 41 extended through an aperture 4:2 in the intermediate portion of the top support or strip 38. The lower portion of-the intermediate support a0 is reduced andsnugly extended through an ear 79 on the intermediate portion of a supplemental strip 80. The supplemental strip 80 has its ends reduced as shown at 82 and extended through notches 84k in. the cross strips 20.

In operation the improved support may be mounted on a table or desk above a type writer as illustrated in Fig. 1 with the supporting unit in position on the frame as illustrated. Matter to be copied may be mounted on the supporting unit in plain view of the operator and is held against slid: ing by the enlargements on the forward por- The improved support may be readily set up for use and will not in any way interfere with the operation of the typewriter. It may be setup without the exercise of un usual skill and may be taken down and stored in a small space.

A support constr cted in accordance with this invention is durable and is cheap to manufacture and all the parts may be connected without the aid of separate fastening devices such'as screws or nails.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:

1. A copy support comprising a frame, and a copy supporting unit detachably mounted on the frame and having means to hold the parts of the frame together.

2. A typewriter support comprising a pair of base plates having return bends, pairs of standards extending through the end portions of said base plates and having their upper portionsnotched, a pair of connecting strips extending in parallel relation at the detachably upper portions of the standards, end strips having interlocking connection with said connecting strips and said standards, and a supporting unit mounted on said connecting strips,

A copy support for use in connection with typewriters comprising a pair of standarr end-strips having interfitting connec tion with the upper portions of said standards, connecting strips detachably interlocked with the end portions of said end strips, cross strips joining the intermediate portions of said connecting strips, inclined supports detachably interlocked with said cross strips, and braces having detachable and interlocked connection with said cross strips and said inclined supports.

4. A copy support for use in connection ith typewriters comprising a pair of standards, end strips having interfitting connection with the upper portions of said st-and ards, connecting strips detachably interlocked with the end portions of said end strips, cross strips oining the intermediate portions of said connecting strips, inclined supports interlocked .with said cross strips, braces having detachable and interlocked connection with said cross strips and said inclined supports and a top strip connected at its ends to the end portions of said inclined supports. V

5. A copy support for use in connection with typewriters comprising a pair of stand ards, end strips having interfitting connection with the upper portions of said standards, connecting strips detachably interlocked with the end portions of said end strips, cross strips joining the intermediate portions of said connecting strips, inclined supports detachably interlocked with said cross strips, braces having detachable and interlocked connection with said cross strips and said inclined supports, a top strip connected at its ends tothe end portions of said inclined supports,and an intermediate supporting strip connected to said top strip.
