In a book support of the character described, a base having a longitudinal slot therein, both end supports mounted on the base, a block d'ependingfrom each support and extending through the slot, a plate attached to the block beneath the base, cooperating means on the opposed faces of the base and plate for holding the book end support in adjusted position, a pair of guides carried by the bottom of the base and upon which the plate rides, and the bottom of the plate having transverse angle facets respectively engageable with the guide strips when the book end is at rest or being shifted. 8. In a book support of the character described, a base having a longitudinal slot therein, both end supports mounted on the base, a block depending from each support and extending through the slot, a plate attached to the block beneath the base, a cor-' rugated strip on the under side of the base at each side of the slot, pins projecting up- 40 wardly from the inner end of the plate to engage the corrugated strips for holding the book ends in adjusted position, a pair of guides carried by the bottom of the base and upon which the plate rides, and the bottom of the plate having transverse angle facets respectively 'engageable with the'guide strips when the book end is at rest or being shifted.
