Be it known that I, FRANK a citizen Vof the United. States, residing at Shreveport, in the parish of Gaddo, State of Louisiana, have invented certain newand useful Improvements'in Doors, of which the following is a` speciication.
This invention relates 1n general to doors, and more particularly tol an automatically operable ycounterbalanced door especially adapted for use in garages.
An object of the.-1nvention is to rovide a door of vthis character which may e conveniently and easily operated to effect either opening or closing thereof and .which isso constructed, mountedy and -counterbalanced as-to automatically vopen or close .under the control of the person entering or leaving the garage.
A furtherl object ofthe invention istoV provide a door of this character having these advantages'and capacities and which is'also of simple and durable construction, reliable Y in 'operation and easy and comparativelyinexpensive to manufacture. y

Counter-weights 30 are fixed vto, theufree ends ofthe levers 20 and are provided for the purpose of counterbalancing the door 15. In a garage door, a pair of vertical standardgthe members of said pairy of standards being located at the opposite sides of the door, aleverfulcrumed on each standard, a rigid door structure fiXedly secured to the forwardends of the levers, the levers and the door structure' being arranged at right angles, thev levers beingk horizontally disposed in the closed position of the door and being vertically disposed in the open position of thedoor, counterw'eightsv secured to the` rear ends of the levers, and stops co- `operable'with the counterweights for limitingthe movement of the doorto open and closed position.

In combination with a building structure having a Wall provided With a door opening7 the portion of the Wall immediat-eliv above the opening being recessed, a rigid oor structure co-operable with the door opening, a pair of vertical standards, inembers of said pair of standards being located at the opposite sides of the door, a lever fulcrulned on each standard, the forward ends of the levers being iiXedly secured to the door structure, the levers being horizontally disposed in the closed position of thedoor, the door in its closed position having its lower end resting onzthe floor of the building structure and having its upper end received in the recess of the front Wall, the levers being vertically disposed in the. open position of the door, and a counter- Weight mounted on each lever at the end thereof opposite the door.l

In combination Witha building structure having a wall provided vwith a door opening, the portion of the Wall immediateabove the opening being recessed, a rigid l olbor structure co-operable with the door opening, a pairof vertical standards, members of said pair of standards being located at the opposite-sides of the door, a lever fulcrumed on each standard, the forward ends of the levers being fixedly secured to the door structure, the levers being horizontally disposedv in the closed positionvr of the door, the door inn/its lclosed position having itsv lower end resting on the floor of the building structure and having its upper end received in the recessl of the front wall, vthe levers being vertically disposed in the open position of the door, a /counterweight mounted on each lever at the end thereof opposite 'the door, a guidepulley mounted on the building structure'rearwardly of the door, and an operating cord having one end conn'ected to the innerl sideof the door, said operating cord being trained around the pulley and extended forwardly of the door to a point of convenient control eXteriorly of the building.
