Description
UNITED STATEs PATENT OFFICE.
HIRAM N. RUCKER, OF PLAINSBURG, CALIFORNIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN TICKET-CLASPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 150,977, dated May 19, 1874 application tiled March 25, 1874.
To all whom it may concer/n:
Be it known that I, HIRAM N: RUCKEE, of Plainsburg, Merced county, State of California, have invented an Improved Ticket-Clasp 5 and I do hereby declare the following description and accompanying drawings are sui'licient to enable any person skilled in the art or science to which it most nearly appertains to make and use my said invention or improve ment without further invention 0r experiment.
My invention relates to an improved ticket or card holder, which is especially adapted for conductors, drivers, and other persons who are compelled to carry a number of tickets or cards about the person.
In order to explain my invention so that others will be able to understand its construction and operation, reference is had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a front view of my ticket-holder. Fig. 2 is a back view.
A B are two half-boxes, the backs of which are so connected that the two parts can 'slide together or be extended, so as to accommodate tickets of diierent widths. Each part consists of a piece of sheet metal, having it-s outer edge bent at right angles to form the sides, and again bent inward at right angles, so as to form side iian ges c c on the front of the box. The upper and lower edges of the back ot one part A are made slightly longer than the back of the part B, and these extensions are bent inward, so as to form guides, in which the back of the part B can slide. A pin, e, on the part B is arranged to strike a lug on the extensions or slides when the parts are fully extended, in order to prevent them from coming apart. A at bow-spring, f, has one end secured to the back of the part B inside ot' the holder and near one end, so that it will extend lengthwise of the box. This spring serves to press the tickets or cards against the open face or side flanges of the box or holder. A pin, g, and hook h are secured to the back ot' the box, by means of which it can be secured to the lapel of the coat or vest, or other part of the clothing.
This holder will accommodate tickets of various sizes, as it can be extended or closed to the Width of the tickets, and thus provide a very convenient and neat ticket or card holder.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
A ticket or card holder consisting of the halfvboxes A B, arranged as described, and provided with the spring f, pin g, and hook h, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal.
