CIGAR CASE.

1 '0 all whom it"may concern: Be it knownthat I, JosEPH SON, a citizen of the United States, andresidentof Babylon, in the county of Sufiolk suspended and separated from the walls of the case. A second object of the invention. is the production of a case, in which a lighta ed cigarv can be suspended, so that neither the lighted end or the moistened end of the cigar contacts with the walls of the case. A third object of the invention is the production of a case with appurtenances that will prevent any movement of the cigar after the case is closed. A fourth object is the production of a case having a nose end, so that it can be easily inserted into a pocket of a garment. A fifth object is the production of a cigar case, whichwill maintain the lighted end 'of aicigar: spaced from the walls of the case to prevent the heating and the burning of the latter. A sixth object is the production of such a case that can be easily closed or opened, and when closed will smother the burning end of a cigar con tained therein.

A seventh object of the invention is the production of a case which provides an air space all about and around a cigar suspend ed therein.

An eighth object of the invention is the production of a case for a cigar which can be easily cleaned of any ashes, that may separate from the lighted cigar.

A ninth object of the invention is the production of a case, in which cigars of difierent diameters and shapes can be easily suspended.

The cigar case is shown with an elongated cupshaped bottom member A, to which is 'l hinged an elongated cup shaped top member B, by means of the hinge 20.; The two men bcrs when locked together form a' cigar" shaped case.

A flexible tray in the member A is indicated in its entirety bythe letter C, and a similar flexible tray in the member B is indicated in its entirety by the letterD.

' The tray 0- comprises the plurality of flexible semi-circular arms 36, with the diverging outerends 37. Longitudinal curved braces 38 with the-peaks 39 connect the arms 36. The peaks 39 are'fastened to the inner face of the member A, near one edge thereof, and in this instance adjacent to the hinge 20, by means ofvthe rivets40. .By this means the arms 36 are spacedfrom the inner face of said member A, to provide the clearance space E. The wall of the member A is indented at 41 to provide a seat forthe rivets 40, that fasten the peaks 39 to the member A. A tenth object of the invention is the prodentations 4:1 and 41 prevent the heads of the rivets 40 and 41 from protruding beyond the outer faces of the members of the case, and thereby provide a smooth surface for the, latter. 7

To use the case it is opened as shown in Fig. 2 and a lightedor unlighted cigar is placed on the tray C, after which the mem ber B is locked to the member A and the tray D will bear down on the cigar. The said cigar will thereby be clamped in place spaced from the walls of the case. When the case is closed the cigar, if lighted, will be extinguished. The case can now be easily inserted into a pocket of a garment without danger of any injury to the garment or the cigar. I It the cigar is to be taken from the case it is opened by pressing on the outer end 32 of the latch 30, when the members of the case can be easily unlocked and the cigar lifted from the case. The flexibility of the trays C and 1) permits cigars 0r-other similar shaped objects of various diameters and shapes to be securely clamped between them.

Having described my invention what I desire to secure by Letters Patent and claim 1. In a case the combination of a cup shaped bottom member, a cup shaped top member hinged to the bottom member, a fleX- ible tray for each of the members, each tray comprising a plurality of semi circular arms, braces connected to said arms and means to fasten the braces to their respective cup shaped members.
