UNITED STATES FRANCIS PL CHANDLER',-.OF'HOUSTON, 'JIEXAS.
TOY.
Application filed October 30, 1922. Serial No. 597,735.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANCIS P. CHANDLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Houston, in the county of Harris and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a toy.
One object of the invention is to provide a toy of the character described which is preferably mounted on wheels and is composed of a frame work and removable translucent side walls which bear the representations of animals or other figures which are revealed by means of a light enclosed within the frame work.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of the character described composed of a frame work having removable interchangeable translucent side walls which bear representations of animals or figures, said characters being revealed by a light within the frame work and saidframe work being constructed, if desired, in tiers one above the other.
Another object of the invention is to provide a toy which is attractive in appearance and which may be cheaply and easily constructed and which will be durable in use.
With the above and other objects in view the invention has particular relation to certain novel features of construction, arrangement of parts, and use, an example of which is given in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the device.
Figure 2 shows a fragmentary plan view thereof partially in section.
Figure 3 shows an end view partially in section.
Figure 4 shows a side view of one of the wall panels broken away and,
Figure 5 shows an end view thereof partially in section.
In the drawings the numeral 1 designates a platform which is mounted on the axles 2, 2 which in turn are supported by the carrier wheels 3. Mounted on the platform are the corner posts 4 which are secured in place by means of the rod 5 which are fitted alongside through said posts and whose lower ends are fitted through the platform and are secured thereto by means of the nut 6. The outer sides are shouldered in and an angle ed on the platform 1. The light from the a candle reveals the representations on said panels. A number of panels may be used and interchanged so as to give a variety of efiects. As shown in Figure 2 the frame work is built in two tiers, the upper tier being of substantially the same structure as the lower. It is obvious of course that additional tiers may be added as desired.
What I claim is 1. A device of the character described including a. platform mounted on suitable carrier wheels, corner posts mounted on the platform, a rod fitted lengthwise through each post, whose lower ends extend through the platform and are secured thereto, the,
outer sides of said posts being shouldered in an angle iron, so secured to each post that said shouldered in portions will form with the wings of said angle iron vertical grooves, panels forming walls, the respective ends of said panels being fitted into said grooves, the said panels consisting of rectangular framework and translucid material secured to said frame-work, a bracket mounted on said platform and forming a candle holder.
2. A device of the character described including a platform mounted on suitable carrier wheels, corner posts mounted I onthe platform, a rod fitted lengthwise through each post, whose lower ends extend through the platform and are secured thereto, the outer sides of said posts being shouldered in an angle iron, so secured to each post that said shouldered in; portions will form with the wings of said angle iron vertical grooves, panels forming walls, the respective ends of said panels being fitted into said grooves, the said panels consisting of rectangular framework and translucid material secured 1 to said framework, a bracket mounted on said platform and forming a candle holder. a rectangular frame mounted on the top of said posts and secured thereto, by said rods. corner posts mounted on said last mention frame having shouldered in sides, angle In testimony whereof I have signed my irons fastened to. said last mentioned corner name to this specification in the presence of posts Whose Wings form with said shouldered tWo subscrlbing Witnesses.
in portions vertical grooves provided to 're- FRANCIS P. CHANDLER. 5 ceive panels of translucid material, and atop Witnesses:
platform mounted on said last mentioned W. H. DUNLAY,
posts. E. V. HARDWAY.
