EUGENE LEE MCGUIRE, OF MASSILLON, OHIO.
SIGN.
Application filed February 26, 1923.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EUGENE Lv MCGUIRE,
a citizen-of the United States, residing at Massillon, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Sign, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to changeable exhibitors and aims to provide an exhibitor to be employed for advertising purposes, novel means being provided to support the exhibitor, whereby the same may be revolved by air pressure to attract attention. Another object of the invention is to pro-- vide an exhibitor which may be folded into a small and compact article for transportation and convenience in storing.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawing:
Figure 1 is a plan view of an exhibitor constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view through the exhibitor.
Figure 3 is a side elevational view thereof.
Figure 4; is a sectional view taken on line 44: of Figure 3.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the device embodies a base or supporting post indicated at 5, which may be formed of any suitable material and provided with a hearing member in its upper end, the bearing member being indicated at 6 and provided with a shoulder to rest on the upper end of the member 5.
This bearing member is threaded internally to receive the threaded extremity 7 of the support 8 which is in the form of, a pipe threaded at its upper end as at 9 to accommodate the bearing 10 on which the exhibitor rotates.
The exhibitor includes rectangular exhibiting surfaces 11 which are formed pref Serial No. 621,246.
erably of sheet metal and provided with flanges 12 ext-ending at right angles to the surfaces thereof and defining pockets to catch the wind and cause rotation of the sign proper. As shown, the inner ends of the members 11 are disposed adjacent to the upper extremity of the section 8 and are bolted to the bearing 10 at 12, while the lower inner edges of the members '11 are bolted to the bearing 18, at 14:, the bearing being mounted on the section 8 at a point adjacent to the upper end thereof.
The bearing 10' is formed with a hollow portion to receive the tapered extremity 15 of the bearing 10, thereby providing bearing wherein the contacting surfaces thereof are relatively small to offer the least amount of resistance.
Bracing bars 16 are secured to the mem-' here 11 at the upper and lower edges thereof and at points adjacent to their outer ends, to brace the outer portions of the members 11 and hold them in proper spaced relation with each other.
The inner ends of the members 11 are connected by the bars 17 that are bolted to the upper and'lower edges thereof at 18, thereby holding the inner ends of the members 11 in proper spaced relation.
From the foregoing it will be seen that due to the construction as shown and described, advertising matter may be placed on the surfaces of the members 11, whereby the device will be rotated by wind pressure, causing the various signs to be displayed at one side of the exhibitor.
What I claim as new is A movable sign including a supporting post, a removable reduced ,end section positioned in the upper end or the supporting bearing secured between the adjacent inner In testimony that I claim the foregoing as edges 01"? the exhibiting surfaces at points my own, I have hereto aflixed my signature ad aCent to the lower edges of the exhibiting 1n the presence of two Witnesses.
surfaces, said last mentioned bearing adapted EUGENE LEE MCGUIRE. 5 to embrace a portion of the removable end NVitnesses:
section to restrict lateral movement of the MILO VAN FossoN,
exhibiting member. CHAS. F. BLAIR.
