IMPROVEMENT IN STILTS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 144,799, dated November 18, 1873; application led May 13, 1873.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, THOMAS J. SHEEAEs, of Ypsilanti, in the county of Washtenaw and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stlts; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon,

which form a part of this specication.

The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a stilt, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order to enable othersskilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to thel fit in correspondingly-inclined holes a a made in the wooden leg A. so that the foot-rest may be raised or lowered at will. i

The pins C C, being inclined downward, as described, will hold the foot-rest B sufficiently rm to the leg without any additional fastening 5 but, if desired, a screw,b, may be passed throughy either or both ends of the vertical part of the foot-rest, to hold it more securely in place. Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The improved stilt, consisting of the footrest B, provided with the downwardly-inclined pins C C, in combination with the leg or stai' A, having the upwardly-inclined holes a a, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
