Description

T. H. JOHNSON GAME.
APPLICATION FILED NOV-7. 1919.
Patented. Aug. 29, 1922..

FIGB
v n i s il i GAME. I
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, THOMAS H. JoHNsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Game, of which the followin is a specification.
l y invention relates to improvements 1n target games in which a rotatable target is the main device; and the objects of my improvement are to provide games that will require greater skill, be more attractive and interesting than ordinary competitive target practice, and allow each player to score a running hit without lessening the prospects of the other players. I attain these objects with the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which,
Fig. 1 is a top or end view; Fig. 2 is a side view; and Fig. 3 is a bottom or end view; all of which are variations from the design shown in my pending application for a De sign Patent, Ser. No. 187,276, filed Dec. 15, 1916.
Fig. 4 illustrates the projectiles and shows the tail ends colored to correspond with the colors on the target device.
The device illustrated in the appended drawings has three target surfaces, preferably of soft wood or other easily penetrated material; it may be operated in a vertical or horizontal position; each target surface has a plurality of selective divisions thereon, some of the divisions being distinguished from each other by colors or numerals and fine wires a, a, a, stretched along the dividing lines between the divisions; the selective divisions are so arranged that, when the target is revolved or rotated, their positions will be constantly changing with reference to the eye of an observer or to the axis of rotation, 29, b, of the target; the target may also revolve or rotate with c, c, or d as centers; the black concentric divisions in Fig. 1 and Fig. 3, are not positionally changeable with reference to the axis of rotation b, b, of the target and are not selective divisions to be aimed at, and will not be considered in the claims.
The purpose of the fine wires a, a, a, is to avoid disputes about apparently neutral hits, as a penetrating hit would have to be on one side of a wire.
Although varying designs are shown on the device, the games that may be played will Spcci fioation of Letters Patent. fg figntgd f r-mg, 29, 11922,

be substantially the same. The player names a selective division on one of the target surfaces and is given a projectile corresponding with the selected division, and if, while the target is revolving or rotating, he can project or throw his projectile and hit his selected division, he wins.
. There may be as many players as there are selective divisions on the target. The number of selective divisions, their shape, the number of colors used, and the proportionate distribution of the colors may vary without going beyond the scope of the invention.
The following claims apply to games using a rotatable target, said target having divisions thereon that will be constantly changing their positions with reference to the eye of an observer or to the axis of rotation of the target while the said target is revolving or rotating.
I claim:
1. In a game, the combination of a rotatable target, a plurality of divisions on said target, distinguishing features on said divisions, said divisions and distinguishing features being positionally changeable with reference to the axis of rotation of said target.
2. In a game, the combination of a support, a shaft supported thereon, a rotatable target mounted on said shaft, a plurality of divisions on said target, distinguishing features on said divisions, said divisions and features being positionally changeable with reference to the axis of rotation of said target.
3. In a game, the combination of a support, a shaft supported thereon, a rotatable target mounted on said shaft, a plurality of divisions on said target, distinguishing features on said divisions, fine wires extending along the dividing lines between said divisions, said divisions, features and wires being positionally changeable with reference to the axis of rotation of said target.
4;. in game, the combination of a support, a shaft supported thereon, a rotatable target mounted on said shaft, a plurality of divisions on said target, distinguishing fea tures on said division's, fine wires stretched along the dividing lines between said divisions, said divisions, features and fine wires being positionally changeable with reference to the axis of rotation of said target, and a plurality of projectiles to be projected at vice rotatably mountedon said shaft, a plurality of target surfaces on said device, a plurality of divisions on each of said target surfaces, distinguishing features on said divisions, fine" Wires stretched alen-g the 10 dividing lines between a plurality of said divisions, said divlsions, features and Wires bein ositionali chan eable with reference is P IV a:
to the axis of rotation of said target device,
a plurality of projectiles, distinguishing fea- 15 tures on said projectiles.
