GAME APPARATUS.

To all 20/ 20177, it may concern:

Be it known that I, RICHARD S. TERRY, citizen of the United States, residing at Milford, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented. certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exactdescription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to a game apparatus wherein a board is employed on which are arranged a series of disappearing plates hearing or temporarily concealing certain characters comprising the game.

Referring to the accompanying drawings wherein the same numerals and letters of reference indicate like characters througlr' out the several views;

Figure 1 represents the game board showing the plates in their normal position with an indicator dial connected therewith;

Figure 2 is an enlarged broken sectional view of the game board showing the first plate at the left in its normal position, the second plate in the act of passing through an opening in the board. and the third plate with the principal part thereof below the upper surface of the board;

Figure 3 is an enlarged detail view in perspective of one of the plates, and

Figure l is an enlarged broken view of the board showing one of the plates in its normal position covering the characters pertaining to the game, and showing the other plate retreated and its previously underlying characters exposed to view.

The board a. has on its upper margin the capital letters A. to H inclusive, each letter being located over its individual line of plates below said letters. On the left hand margin of the board, each in line with a horizontal row of plates, are the numerals 1 to 6 inclusive.

The manner of playing the game in accordance with'the construction and arrange ment shown in'Figure l is as follows The number of plates fcorrespond to the number of States from Maine to California, each plate bearing the .name of a particular State and the number representing its electoral vote. Each-player will make'his choice of the Presidential candidate he favors, and

eachyin turn, will give the pointer a sudden whirl and wherever it stops, it will determine the result to be obtained from the board. Referring to the dial 6, it will be noted that, the indicating end is of the pointer has come to rest in the sector G and opposite the numeral 5. Referring to the board for the result, the player will note that the intersection of an imaginary vertical line drawn from Gr in the upper margin and a horizontal imaginary line drawn from the numeral 5 in the margin at the left, will indicate the State of Wyoming, with its three electoral votes, to be placed to his credit, and will raise said plate from its normal position and drop it through its opening in the board with the part 9 resting on, the upper surface of the board as shown in Figures 2 and 4. The next player will repeat the process, note the result in his favor, and also remove his plate. Each player will thus alternate until one has registered enough electoral votes to elect his candidate, and is declared the winner. many players can participate in the game as there are candidates in the field.

In Figure 4, the plates are devoid of characters which are located on the board to be disclosed when said plates are lifted. The different characters are preferably attached to either the plates or the board so that others can readily be substituted, as, for instance, in the electoral game when a change in the electoral vote of any State is made.

The temporary removableness of the plates as a necessary feature in a game will the underside of the board when a quick horizontalmovement of the board will relay the plates.

Having thus described my inventiony what r a 1 it having a series of individual openings I claim is; v 4 a a 1. A game apparatuscomprising a board having a seriesof individual openings therethrough arranged in horizontal and transversal rows, plates associated with said openings and adapted to normally assumea horizontal position on the hoard and also adapted to be inserted in the openingsinto a vertical position, one end of the plates having means adapted to engagethe board and maintain said plates in such vertical position, and means at the opposite end of the plates adapted toengage the underside said plates with respect to theboard.

A game apparatus comprising a board havmg a series of indivudual openings therethrough, plates associated with said openings and adapted to normally rest against the upper surface oi the board, and be temporarily inserted into said openings, one end of they plates having an angular bend adapted to engage the upper surface of the board when said plates are inserted in said openings, the opposite ends of: the plates having reverse bends with extended ears adapted to engage the under surface of the board to prevent the plates being detached therefrom when said plates are in I a normal position.
