Description
' H. F. SCHONEMAN/ COMBINATION TOOTHBRUSH.
APPLICATION FILED APR. 23, 1921.

INVENTOR ATTORN EY UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HERMAN F. SGHON'EMAN, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
COMBINATION TOOTHBRUSH.
Specification .of Letters Patent. Patented June 20, 1922.
Application filed April 23, 1921. Serial No. 463,916.
. To all whom it My concern:
Be it known that I, HERMAN F. S'oHonn- MAN, a citizen of the United States, residmg at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented new and use-'- ful Improvements in Combination Toothbrushes, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a tooth brush construction and has for its primary object to combine a tooth brush and a holder in a very compact novel construction, which will keep the brush in a sanitary condition at all times.
' An object of the invention is the conven ient manner of connecting and assembling the parts so that the device may be readily carried in a pocket or purse. 7
A feature of my invention is that owing to its compact arrangement of parts the same can be conveniently carried thereby enabling the user to brush his teeth as often as neces sar during the day.
esides the above my invention is distinguished in the use of a removable brush head and an air tight receiver for the dental material.
With these and other objects in view the invention will be better understood from the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein:
Fig. 1 is a side elevation of myinvention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view with the brush head in one position. I Fig. 3 is a similar .view of the brush head in another position. Fig. 4 is a cross sectional view.
Again referring to the drawing illustrat-v mg one of the many constructions of my invention the-numeraljl designates a barrel having one end 2 closed and provided with a vent 3. The other end 4 is open and flared as indicated at 5 so as to have tight frictional engagement with the tapering bottom portion 6 and the receiver 7. This receiver is slightly tapered throughout so that either end may be frictionally en 'aged by the 0 an end 4 of the barrel. A gap '8 is provided having screw threaded engagement 9 with the receiver so as to close the same and keep.
the dental material that is arranged within the receiver in a sanitary condition.
- The tapering bottom 6 of the receiver is provided with an extension '10 formed with a dove tail slot 11 slidably receiving the dove construction it will be seen that-when the bristles become worn the head may be readily disconnected and a new head substituted, thereby enabling the remaining portions of the structure to be used again, there-- 'tail' rib.12 on the brush head 13. From this fore, I provide a very-inexpensive combined be conveniently carried so as to enable the ,3
user to brush his teeth often during the day.
It is, of course, to be understood that the various parts may be constructed. in various other manners than illustrated, and associated in other relations, and therefore, I do not desire to be limited in any manner except as set forth in the claim hereunto ap pended.
Having thus described my invention ,what
. I claim is:
A combination tooth brush comprising a barrel having one end' flared, a double cone shaped receiver adapted to have its ends interchangeably and frictionally engaged in said-flared end, a brush head connected to one end of said receiver, and a cap screw threaded to and enclosing the other end of the receiver and conform to the taper thereof,
HERMAN F. SCHON-EMAN.
- In testimony whereof'I afiix my signature.
