This passage 9 has its outer end closed by a removable threaded plug 10 and is provided with side passages 11 which pass through certain of the teeth 12 of the comb. 1

A piston 20 is positioned in the body of the cartridge and in threaded engagement with the rod or stem 16 so that when thisstem is rotated, the piston will be moved toward the head 15 and the ointment or oil in the cartridge forced through ,the outlet or neck 21 into the cup 8 and through the passage 9 vinto the passages 11 of the teeth. When not in place, the cartridge will be provided with a suitable closure 22 which is removable so that it can be taken oii' when the cartridge is placed inthe comb handle. It should be noted that the cartridge is Y slightly longer than the tubular handle `thus making it easy to remove the cartridge and further that the threaded stem .does not extend the full length of the cartridge. Therefore, when the device is in use, and the `stem turned, the piston 20 will finally be moved into close engagement with'the head 15 and out of threaded engagement with the incasso la-tching strip 25 is secured to the handle and extends longitudinally thereof for passing Vthrough a seat formed on thel side of the cap by ribs 26. A ratchet disk 37 is placed in the cap against the outer end thereof and about the key 33 and is provided'with sockets 38 to receive the teeth 39 of the disk 40 mounted upon the key. This disk 40 which con-vV stitutes a pawl element is movable longitudinally of the keyand is provided withinwardly extending pins ory fingers 41 for fitting into the longitudinally eXtending grooves 42 of thekey. 5. The structure of claim l having a `piston in the cartridge in threaded engagement with the stem and the stem terminating short of theoutlet end of the cartridge whereby the piston may move out of threaded engagement with thestem.

A fountain comb comprising a hollow handle for receiving a dispensing carriage, a head having an enlarged inner end portion fitting into the forward end portion of the hollow handle, a bushing of heat insulating material positioned in theY hollow .handle about the portion of the head fitting therein and having its outer end portion extended to provide a circumferentially extending shield, a packing in the handle fitting against the inner end of the head, a breech for the rear end of the handle, means carried by the breech for forcing the cartridge into tight engagement with the packingat the inner end of the head, and actuating means for operating expelling means of-a cartridge placed in the handle.

9. The structure of claim 8 having the key provided with longitudinally extending grooves and the pawl in the form of a disk slidably mounted upon the key and having tongues extending into the grooves, the disk being formed of resilient material and hav ing tongues for engaging the ratchet.

A fountain comb including a hollow handle having a head at'one end provided with a passage communicating with the handle, a breech for closing the rearv end Y of the handle, means carried by the breech for actuating dispensing means of a dispensing cartridge positioned in the hollow handle, andmeans carried by the breech for forcing a cartridge tightly into the hollow handlel when the breech is closed, the last mentioned means comprising a cup slidably mounted in the breech and provided with an inwardly ext-ending collar positioned about the actuating means for dispensing means of a cartridge, and a spring iittingrabout the collar and tending to move the cup outwardly into yielding engagement with la cartridge.
