OUTER GARMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.

, bination and arrangement of parts shown in the accompanying drawing and described in the following specification, and it is more particularly pointed out in the appended claim.

Figs. 3 and 4 are side elevations, respectively, of the lower portion of modified forms of the invention.
The combined garment contemplated by the. present invention comprises .an upper portion or jacket 10 having sleeves and a collar of any approved style'and preferably open all the way down at the front and held in closed position by buttons 11 or other suitable fasteners. A series of fasteners 12 are secured to the jacket 10 in a line extending around the garment near the waist and the jacket is provided with a. downwardly extending tail 13 which in use is covered by the upper portion of the combined trousers and leggings 14. The combined trousers and leggings 14 are held in place by the fastenings 12 and are preferably flared at the bottom, as shown at 15, to cover the upper portion of the wearers feet in the mannor of over-gaiters or leggings. A strap 16 is secured to the front portion of the garment in position to pass beneath the instep of the wearer.
The combined trousers and leggings may be open at both sides adjacent the top and secured in closed position by fasteners 17 and also open along the lower outside portion of each leg and closed by fasteners 18. Between the open portlons in this form of the invention is aspace 19 permanently connected for holdin the back and rear parts 'of the outside of the legs together. The garment may be made, however, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, with the entire sides of the legs, from the waist line to the feet, open, with fastenings 20 for holding them in closed position. Anadditiona-l buckle 21 and strap 22 maybe provided, as shown in Fig. 3, when desired.
As shown in Fig. 4, in broken lines, an elastic band 23 may be inserted in a hem at the waist line in the rear portion of the lower garment for holding this portion snugly against the waist when the garment is in place. i
The garment is especially intended for outside wear and may be made of Jersey cloth or other suitable material similar to that of over-gaiters, or, may be made of leather, plush, or any other material suitable for outside wear.
I claim A childs outer garment comprising a jacket member for covering the upper porcent the waist line and covering the tail portion of said jacket, said lower garment comprising legs extending to the feet of the wearer and shaped at their lower ends to cover a portionof the wearers feet, straps on the lower ends of said legs arranged to pass beneath the insteps of the wearer, the legs of said garment being open at their lower portions at the outsides thereof, fasteners for securing said open portions together, the upper portions of the legs of said garment being open at the sidesin alinement with the openings at the lower outsides of the legs, fastenings for securing the upper openings of said lower garment together, andan elastic in the rear back portion ofsaid lower garment adjacent the waist line for holding said portion snugly against the body of the wearer.
