A waterboilers; andv consists in the provision y onev of theobjects of -the Be it known .thatl I, HowARD A, SMOCK, ay citizen ofthe United States, residing at Indianapolis, inthe county'of Marion and State vof Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements Vin Methods of Manufacturing Steam and Hot-lVater Boil` ers, of which the following is asp'eCiiCation.
This invention relates to a method of constructing and manu'facturingfsteam and hot of a method'f boiler construction which is simple, eicient andpecono'mical.
The rapid increase'in the use, among 'automobile;l manufacturers, of anfoutfit comprising a boiler` for simultaneously heating sev-V eralliquid solutions in different tanks for the removal of grease, dirt, enamel and paint from automobile; parts, has created a lar e, demand for a"sinall, `compact and portab e Y outfit consisting of va boiler' and a number of yassociated' or connected tanks, and: it [is present invention to supply suchV demand. i j V The method of assembling and arranging Ythe various parts of my improved construction,` is described V`in the, :following specification and illustrated in vthe accom-1 drawings, forming a' part hereof, in whic v V,Figure l illustratesthe irs'tfstep in the assembling of'rmy improved boiler.- Fig. 2
illustrates the second step in lthev assembling of the boiler. Fig. 3 is a horizontal 'sectional view of a-j complete assembled, boiler constructed in accordance with my invention, on the* line 3- -3 in` Fig.i 4, Fig. 4 is a `central vertical sectional View of an assembled boiler and-associated tanks, on the line 4-4 in Fig. 3.` Fig. 5 is afragmentary detail perspective view,'onan enlarged scale, showing more clearly the method of joining the ends of the cylinders together. v Fig. 6 is' a fragmentary cross sectional view, on 'an enlarged scale, showing a permanent joint for securing the meeting v edges of each Vindividual cylinder together.
Referring to the drawings, the complete boiler comprises a pluralityof concentrically varranged cylinders 10, 11, 12 and 13. Each of these cylinders is formed out of a flat metal sheet, and when the operation of rolling a sheet is completed the meeting edges of the sheet are held together in a temporary manner by means of a metal cleat 14 which overlaps the meetingedges, the cleat'being Specification of Letters Patent;

When cylinder y j similarly to ends lla'ot cylinder 11,V and are f tions, is formed.
.Yioin thereto the complete inner welded fast to theexpanded curved rends 12a' of cylinder' 12, whereby an integral boiler, comprising Instead of constructing andA assembling the inner sections in the, manner just described, ythe same maybe carried forward by first integrally joining the cylinders12 and 13 to.V
the boiler and then Y section at the free ends ottubesl? and 18.
The completed boiler arranged uponA a base 25 ot aboiler setting` having also arranged therein the usual grate-bars 26.v The boiler is alsoenclosed by a casing or shell with/afflue-opening 28 through which the burnt products of combustion escape to the chimney. Y l, f Y e 'As shown in Fig. 3 a plurality of tanks,
form the outer section of f which l designate A., B and C, are arranged around the boiler, and each oithesentanhs communicates with one oi the Vcompartments 22byy means of the conductor pipes 3() and 31,whereby a 'circulation oit the liquidin each tank and its connected compartment 22 is'established independentlyoi th-at in the other tank, when the liquids are heated in the boiler. 1
In the formfandmanner vin. which a boiler i is'construct'ed as herein described, it will be observed that the hollow interior'A of the inner cylinder l0 serves as aA magazine ior the holding and the feeding ot' the coal, or other fuel, into the fire-box VBot the boiler, and whichV constitutes one of the chief ica-- tures of.' the present invention.
Having thus Vfully describedniy invention,A

what l desire to secure by Letters Patent,
1. "The herein described method of manufacturing ,a steam and hot water boiler which comprises separately constructing of each boiler section in the form of mutually complementary elements, each boiler section being formed' of an independent inner and an outer cylinder secured .togetherv at their ends and arranged' with an intervening water holdingchamber between the con nected cylinders, and then rigidly connecting the several sections togetherto forma rigid unitary boiler construction with established 'communication between the water holding chambers or" the diii'lerent boiler sections. f Y f 2. T heherein described method ot constiucting steam and hot water boilers which comprises individually fabricating integral rigid inner and outer' sectionunits in the form of complementary elements, each section being formed of 1an independentinner and anouterjcylinder 'secured together 'at their ends `spaced lapart to form a water holding chamber, between the two cylinders,
the chamber in the outer section being divided into independent' compartments,;and Y then rigidly connecting'said boiler-sections together to forni a rigid unitary boiler combination with established communication betweenv one of the compartments and the chamber in the inner boiler section.
3. The method offmanutacturing steam' ,ll'OlVARD A. SM'CK.
