Description

PATENT OFFICE.
MARK H. PRESOOTT, JR., OF LA' GROSSE, WISCONSIN.
IMPROVEMENT IN CHILDRENS PHOTOGRAPHJ-OHAIRS. 1 i
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 139,329, dated May 27, 1873 application filed April 26, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARK H. PRESGOTT, J r., of La Crosse, in the county of La Grosse and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and Improved Ohilds Photograph-Chair, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists of a vertically-adjustable head-rest at the back of a childs chair, in combination with an adjustable back and band for the waist, for supporting small children steadily, so that they can be photographed clearly and accurately.
Figure l is a side elevation of my improved chair, and Fig. 2 is a front elevation.'
Similar'letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Arepresents the rest for the head of the child, mounted on the rod B, which is fitted in the top of the rod C, so as to be adjusted forward and backward, andfastened by the set-screw D. The rod O is vertically adjustable in the clips E, projecting from the back F and the seat G, and fastened by the setscrew H. I is the back, and j the band for confining the child bythe waist and holding the head in the head-rest. These are also'ad justable vertically on the standards K, which support the chair-back. The rest A is cushioned on the front side. It may be made in the form shown in the drawing, or in theforln of a shallow cup, or the like; it may be of wood or metal; also the rod C, and the latter may be round, if preferred.
It will be readily understood that with this rest, in combination with the waist-holder, a child can be confined in the best position for being photographed, much better than without it.
Haviu g thus described invention, I claim y as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination of an adjustable head-rest, A, with a chair having a waist-holder, I j, substantially as specified. ,l Y
