To all whom# may concern.' Be it known that I, DAVID-ROBERTS, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Dexter Ave., (R. 7,) Ann Arbor, .in the county of lVashtenaw and State of Michigan, have inventedcertain new and useful Improvem ents in a F encepost-Mold, of which the following is a speciiication. v
The invention relates to a :mold construction, and more particularly to the class of fence post fmolds and the fence posts made thereby.
The primary object oftheinvention is the provision of Y a mold construction of this character wherein the body thereof. is made from a single piece of material cut and.
folded so as to provide fixed permanently formed channels arranged `parallel with each other into Ywhich can be poured cementitious material for the shaping of plural fence posts therein, the body of the mold being constructed for the attachment of a leveling board so that the cementitiousmaterial can be rendered smooth and level at the open top of the `mold on manipulating the smoothing or leveling board which is mold and at the same time enabling excessive material being relieved y fromA the mold on movement of the board from one end thereof to the other. Y
Another object of the invention is the provision of a mold of this character wherein opposite side edges of the body thereof are folded on themselves to provide guides with which are engaged cleats carried on a smoothing or leveling board adapted to act upon the contents of the body of the mold for the smoothing of the contents and the finishing thereof prior to the hardening of the cementitious material for the perfect forming of fence posts in the body of the mold, the channels in the body of the mold being smooth so as to eliminate any possibility of the cementitious material sticking thereto or adhering to the surface of the body of the mold during the hardening of the cementitious material.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a mold of this character, wherein one. or a plurality of fence posts can be conveniently formed from cementitious material when poured into the body of the mold, the posts formed from said material being rendered smooth and by the use of the Speci'caton of Letters Patent. lWith these and other `objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in ygthe claims hereunto -appended.

Referring to the drawings in detail, thev fence post mold comprises a body A, preferably made from a blank 10 of sheet metal shown in Fig. 4 of the drawings, the said blank being cut at opposite ends to provide alternate substantially triangular shaped extensions 11 and12, the extensions 11 being adapted to be folded on crease lines 13, while the blank 10 is provided with spaced parallel crease lines 14 disposed longitudinally thereof for the folding of said blank `10 to provide a `plurality of channels 15 in the body A when completed. The extensions 11 when folded on the lines 13 serve as ends to the channels 15 and these extensions 11 being secured in place to close the ends of said channels 15 by the engagement of the flanges 12 with lips or tongues 16 which interlock with thesaid flanges 12 to provide a folded seam 17 between the extensions 11v and the body A of the blank 10, the folded seams 17 being clearly shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings.
bThe channels in the body A serve as molding spaces for cementitious material when poured therein for the making of fence posts. Formed at opposite sides of theV to the undersides of which are fixed cleats 21 adapted for slidable and detachable engagement with the flanges 18 on the body A of the mold and this board 19 is adapted to slide from one end of the body A to the other for the smoothing'of the material contained within the channels 15, the board 19 being manually shifted upon the body A of the mold and in the manipulation thereof the moist material of cementitious substance contained within. the channels 15 in said body A can be smoothed and finished at the open top of said body, whereupon when the substance or material becomes hardened the body A will have therein completed fence posts of triangular shape in cross section with perfectly smooth surfaces.
In Fig. 5 of the drawings there is shown a slight modification of mold body, wherein the channels 22 therein are of tapered for mation from one end of each to the other so that in the constructing of the cementitious fence posts the same will have a tapered contour corresponding to the shape of the channel 22, while the channels 15 in the preferred form of the body A of the mold are formed of a size throughout their entire length.
From the foregoing it is thought that the construction and manner of use of the mold and also .the production of the fence post will be clearly understood and therefore a more extended explanation has been omitted.
1. Arnold of the character described, comprising a blank of sheet metal cut and bent t0 form plural longitudinally disposed parallel channels, extensions formed at the ends of the blank and bent to provide end walls to the channels, flanges on said blank, tongues on the extensions and in locking engagement with the flanges, guides longitudinally of the channels and a smoothing board slidably connected with the guides.
2. fA mold of the character described, comprising a blank of sheet metal cut and bent to form plural longitudinally disposed par allel channels, extensions formed at the ends" of the blank and bent to provide end walls to the channels, flanges on said blank, tongues on the extensions and in locking engagement withthe flanges, guides longitudinally of the channels and a smoothing board slidably connected with the guides, and cleats carried by the board for slidably connecting the same to the guides.
