Be it known that I, MILTON H. WALLEn STEIN, a citizen oft-he United States, residing at Paducah, in the county of McCracken and State of Kentucky, have invented oer.- tain new and useful Improvements in Dis-.
play-Racks; and-I-do hereby declare the f 0l' 7 stores, for facilitating showing said apparel as in making sales.
.A further object is toprovidefor compactly and with facility folding the rack out of the way when not employed'for displaying purposes. 1
A still further object is to carry out these ends in a simple, inexpensive and effective.
manner.
Other objects of the invention will be apparent from the. following disclosure and accompanying illustration.
The invention consists therefore of certain instrumentalities and features of construction substantially as hereinafter more fully disclosed and defined by the appended claim.
The accompanying drawings illustrate the preferred embodiment or one form of my invention wherein it will be understood that various changes and modifications as to the detailed construction and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of my invention as covered by, the claim; 0
In the drawings:
' Figure 1 is a side elevation of tion, parts being broken away, incased;
Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the same, parts also being removed, shown without the casing;
Fig. 3 is a fragmental, detail plan view;

Application filed February 18, 1920. Serial naesasas.
' I F 1g. 5 isa fragment'al side view of a modification ofmy-invention, showing the plurality of hanger-rOdscOnnected or coupled together to provide for the simultaneous movement of such plurality of hanger-rods;
Fig. 6 is a fragmental end view, without the casing, of afurther modification;
Fig; 7 1s a vertical-sectional view showing my invention as .adaptedto provide what may be locally termed as a"floor or aisle rack, the hanger or suspender bars being shown also in dotted lines as extended in Fig. 8 is a side elevation of the same showing portions of the hanger or suspender bars adjusted angularly to the right and tothe' left, respectively, and others or intermediate ones occupying an initial posltion.
As characteristic features of my invention, I provide a suitable inclosure or casing 1 of any suitable materlal, the front being preferably of glass or transparent, for exhibiting or providing for the ready viewing of the ,displayedarticles of apparel or clothing. W
Within the casing or inclosure 1 is suitably secured or positioned oppositehorizom tal track-bars or rails3, 3 reference being made, in this instance, to Fig. 1, the rails or members of said track being of suitable material, steel or otherwise, said casing or inclosure being of suitable dimensions, as to height and otherwise, to provide for the suitable suspension of the articles therein.
A bar or beam t is portably supported upon, and transversely of the track-rails 3,
3, said transverse bar or beam being provided with rollers 5 carried by trucks 5, 5, said rollers being suitably journaled thereon to occupy diagonally opposite positions above and below. said track-rails, thus being adapted to contact with the upper and lower surfaces of said rails, respectively, as clearly shown in the several views. The diagonally opposite corneredges of the trucks carrying the rollers are provided with projecting por- .tions as 5*, to allow said rollers to travel directly upon the track-rails, in front and rear of said trucks and not laterally. thereof.
The transverse bar or beam 4: is to be made of any suitable material, but if made of wood it is to be reinforced or armored by the application thereto of a metallic plate (not shown) fitted down upon its upper surface, and is provided with a plurality of suspender or hanger rods 6 upon which are suspended the articles or wearing apparent, as now preferably practised or adopted especially in displaying a certain class of store, or made-up goods, particularly of the light type thereof. In using the device, it will be appreciated that it is only necessary, in order to obtain access to the inclosed suspended articles within the casing to grasp and draw upon any hanger rod until the same is pulled outwardly so that the desired, garment may be conveniently withdrawn for examination and may be as readily replaced and returned within the casing to initial position thereafter. These hangers or suspending rods are .bent at right angles at one of their ends, which rightangled portions enter vertical orifices 6* in the beam or member 4, allowing them to be moved or adjusted angularly when desired.
In Fig. 5, I have shown an arrangement of several pluralities of hangers or suspender-rods 6, each of which pluralities, arranged one above the other, is connected together by a common rod or element 7 whereby by actuating any one of said elements 7 all of the transverse bars or beams may be moved along the track-rails outwardly, together. with the respective pluralities of hanger or suspender rods, for the examination of any garment or article and thus obviate several operations, as would otherwise be required in effecting such examination.
In Figs. 7 and 8 is shown, as previously indicated, the device as adapted for what may be called floor or aisle use, including a case 1, a multiple of series or pluralities of hanger or suspencler members 2, track-1nem bers 3 3, and transverse bars 2 the tracks and their rollers being designated as 4 and 4 respectively. In this form of the invention, it will be observed that as the suspender members of the series one above another, are connected together, said hanger or suspender members, or any of these, may be drawn outwardly so as to be positioned at opposite sides of the case, in the aisle, for instance, as indicated in dotted lines at 3, for displaying particularly small articles, for quickly providing for such display and facilitating the withdrawal of the hangers or the said traveling-member, a hanger-member of each plurality thereof being connected together by a common member.
In testimony whereof, I afiix my signature.
MILTON H. WALLERSTEIN.
