LEAH G. MILK'E S, 0F MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, ASSIGNOR TO -VENUS MANUFAC- TUBING- COMPANY, OF MINNEAIOLIS, MINNESOTA, A CORPORATION OF MINNE- SOTA.
SLEEVE-CLOSING FLAP.
Application filed May 27, 1918.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LEAH G. MILKEs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sleeve- Closing Flaps; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact de scription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My present invention discloses and claims an improved form of sleeve and flap for opening and closing the end thereof, and is filed as a division of my co-pending application S. N. 155,869, entitled Outdoor garment for child filed of date, March 19, 1917, and allowed of date, April 27, 1918.
The improved cuff is illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein like characters indicate like parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawings:
Figure 1 is a view in front elevation showing the sleeve flap positioned to close the end of the sleeve;
Fig. 2 is a view corresponding to Fig. 1, but showing the flap opened up; and
Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
The body of the garment is indicated by the numeral 4 and the sleeve by the numeral 5. This sleeve is formed with cuff flap 6 that is either formed integral with or at tached to the sleeve at one side,'preferably to the back side, and is provided with fastening means preferably a button hole 7. This fastening means cooperates with the button hole 7 This sleeve is provided with 'a front button 8 and a rear button 9. When the flap is turned over the open end of the sleeve and secured on the button 8, the sleeve will be closed and the hand of the child wearing the garment will be thoroughly protected against the cold (see Figs. 1 and3).
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 11, 1921.
Serial No. 236,682.
When the flap 6 is turned backward and secured on the button 9, the sleeve will be opened at its end and the flap will be securely held out of the way, as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 4. This affords an extremely cheap and efficient means for either closing or opening a sleeve of a childs garment.
When the flap is turned into the position shown in Fig. 2, it is in position for ironing or pressing.
What I claim is:
1. A garment sleeve which is normally open at its outer end and a permanent part of one side of which is extended beyond the other side to form a fiat flap, said flap being adapted to be folded across the open end of the sleeve and to overlie the opposite side of the sleeve in a flat condition and being adapted to be folded back on the side of the sleeve of which it is an extension to lie in a fiat condition, and means on the sleeve and on the flap for securing the flap in both of its positions.
2. A garment sleeve which is normally open at its outer end and a permanent part of one side of which is extended beyond the other side to form a flat flap, said flap being adapted to be folded across the open end of the sleeve and to overlie the opposite side of the sleeve in a flat condition and being adapted to be folded back on the side of the sleeve of which it is an extension to lie in a fiat condition, and fastening elements on both sides of the sleeve and a single fastening element on the flap arranged to cooperate with the fastening elements on the LEAH. Gr. MILKES.
