Description

w. H. WILKIIE.
T RAY FOR LUNCH BOXES,
APPLICATION FILED DEC. 9,1919.
1;,353,689 Patented Sept. 21, 192
WILLIAM H. WILKIE, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
TRAY FOR LUNCH-Boxes.
Application filed December 9, 1919. Serial No. 848,534.
To allwkom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. WILKIE, a citizen of the United States, residin at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and tate of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trays for Lunch- Boxes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains tomake and use the same, reference beinghad to the accompanyingv drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a tray and receptacle for holding a piece of pie for a lunch box, and consists of a simple and efficient device of this character having various details of construction, combination and arrangement of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this application, and in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the blank.
Fig. 2 is a like view of the pan separated,
Fig. 3 is a vertical section, and
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary, perspective view of one corner of the device.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter: 4
A designates a preferably substantially triangular-shaped blank formed advantageously of metal, scored along the lines B to form flanges C extending along the sides of the triangular-shaped blank. Said triangular-shaped blank is notched, as shown at a, at the ends of the base of the triangular-shaped blank, and also at b, 6, toward Speciiication of Letters Patent. Patented Sept; 21, 1920.,
the apex of the triangular-shaped blank,
forming a tab D, as shown.
' The flanges c, c, c are bent up into a po- I sition at right angles with the body of the blank A. he tab D is then bent up and the side portions thereof are bent over the exterior face of the flanges c, c, as shown in tween them the flap D, thus permitting the insertion of the finger to pull down the flap, when desired to display the contents of the tra at this end.
Vllhat I claim to be new is:
A triangular-shaped tray comprising a triangular-shaped blank bent along the longitudinal sides thereof to provide side flanges, and also bent along the base of said triangular-shaped blank to provide .a base flange, said blank being notched at the ends of the base flange and toward the apex of said triangular shaped blank, said notches,-
at the apex portion, providing a flap, said flap being bent upward and the sides of said flap being bent against the exterior face of the side flanges, in combination with a triangular-shaped cover, the apex of which is cut away, said cover being provided with side flanges, said side flanges being adapted to bear against the side flanges of the tray,
the apex flap of the traybeing exposed, when the cover is in place, thus permitting said flap to be bent downward to expose the contents of the tray.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature.
WILLIAM H. WILKIE.
