UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ABRAHAM L. DUTTON, OF OTIS, COLOR-ADO.
LEVELING DEVICE FOR THRESHING-MAOHINES, &c.
Application filed April 10, 1919.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ABRAHAM L. DUTTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Otis, in the ounty of lVashington and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Leveling Devices for Threshing-Machines, &c. and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in plumbing devices for at tachment to threshing machines or other objects, for the purpose of plumbing the same.
The invention consists of a simple and efficient device of this nature having various details of construction, combination and arrangement of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this application and in which:
Figure l is a view in elevation showing the application of my invention, and
Fig. 2 is a top plan view.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter:
A designates a block which has two bolts 13 and C fastened thereto and which are parallel to each other, the former of which Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 20, 1920.
Serial No. 289,039.
has an eye D at one end in which an eye F of a plumb rod H is carried, said plumb rod having a weighted member N at its lower end and which passes through an enlarged eye R formed at the end of the bolt B.
In operation, said block is fastened to the object to be plumbed and the pendulum or weighted rod is adapted, when the block is in a vertical position, to be positioned centrally within the eye R on the bolt B and in the event of the block being secured to an object, the latter will also be plumb when the weighted member is as described.
My invention may be applied to any object, machines, buildings, etc., and affording a ready means for determining the proper setting for the object to which it is attached.
hat I claim to be new is:
A device for plumbing objects, consisting of a block to be attached to the object to be plumbed, two rods fastened to said block parallel to each other and spaced apart; the upper of the two rods having an eye which is in a vertical plane, the lower rod having an enlarged eye in a horizontal plane directly underneath the eye in the upper rod, a pendulum bent to form an eye at its upper end and interlock with the eye in the upper rod, and having a swinging movement in the eye of the lower rod.
positioned centrally,
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ABRAHAM L. DUTTON.
lVitnesses:
HARRY C. STEPHENS, WM. STEINMETZ.
