PAPER-PUNGHING MACHINE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 16, 1919.
Application filed August 10, 1918. Serial No. 249,342.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SISSAK K. OUZOUN- Bocrrossnm, a subject of the Sultan of Turkey, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have 1nvented certain new and useful Improvements in Paper- Punching Machines, of which the following is aspecification.
hiiy invention relates to improvements in paper-punching-machines which are adapted to punch double holes on letter papers by a single hand pressure lever for fihng purposes in transfer-cases and the like.
The object of my invention is to provide a paper-punching-machine adapted to punch double holes or a single hole on sheet papers by a single hand pressure as may be desired, and without altering the mechanism of the machine in any way.
Another object of my invention is to pro vide a paper-punching machine with two U-shaped slots positioned directly behind the two lever punches and adapted to engage two filing posts on a transfer case to determine the right positions of the doubleholes to be punched in a sheet of paper.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a view in perspective of my improved combination paper-punchin -machine. Figs. 2 and 3 are views in front elevations of the middle punch of my improved machine, removable and unremovable styles respec tivcly, the one being a modification of the other. Fig. 4 is a plan view of the hand pressure lever of the'double punch of my improved machine. Fig. 5 is a top plan view of the base-plate of this machine, from which the upper parts and the two rivets are removed.
Similar reference numerals refer to similar parts throughout the drawings.
In Fig. 1, to base-plate 17 is affixed plate 16 forming slot 31. To base-plate 16 are af fixed side-plates 18. 18, to which is affixed plate 15 and fitted lever 14s by pin wire 20. Three holes on each of plates 15, 16 and 17 are provided in which are fitted punches 21, 8, 22 surrounded by the wire- springs 7, 7, 7, and top handle 1 is affixed to punch 8. Slots 12, 12 are provided on base-plate 17 and behind the punches 21,
To punch double-holes on letterpapers, the punching-machine is put on letters already in file in the transfer case or the like, the slots 12, 12 resting against the filing posts 17 and of the transfer-case or the like, then the letter to he filed is put into the slot 31 on base-plate l7 and the paper to be punched is easily centered as may be desired according to the letters in the file, then the lever-handle 13 is pressed and the two holes are punched. By pressing the tophandle 1 of this machine a single hole can be punched.
In Figs. 2 and 3 is shown the punch 3 being removable by pin 5 and unremovable by shoulder 6.
In Fig. 1 are shown the oblong hole 8 of the lever 14, and the lever-pressure-handle 13.
In F ig. 5 are shown the base-plate 17, punch- holes 28, 11, 28, bumps 29, 29, rivets 30, 30 and slots 12, 12. The bumps 29, 29 causes the paper-slot 31 in Fig. 1, the plates 7 being riveted together by rivets so, 30.
By the arrangements and construction of the machine described above it is evident that this machine will do the work of two Lia-chines now being used, and as the single punch 3 can be made removable, a single round hole or a single sharp hole for paperfasteners can be made with this machine by simply tting a round or sharp punch into said machine.
Having described my invention what I desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States and claim is:
1. A paper-punching-machine adapted to punch holes on sheet papers for filing purposes comprising three punches in a row, a single hand pressure lever for actuating two of said three punches, a top hand pressure handle for actuating the one of said three punches between said two punches independently of said two punches, all substantially as set forth.
2. A. paper-punching-machine adapted to punch holes on sheet papers for filing purposes comprising three punches in a row, a single hand pressure lever for actuating two of said three punches, a top hand pressure handle for actuating the one of said three punches between said two punches independently of said two punches, a base-plate provided with two U-shaped slots positioned directly behind said two punches, all substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof Ialfix my signature.
SISSAK K. OUZOUN-BOGHOSSIAN,
