SUBSOILER ATTACHMENT FOR FLOWS.
Specification of Letters Patent. 7
Patented Dec. 9, 1919.
Application filed February 11, 1916, SerialNo. 77,704. Renewed October 16, 1919. Serial No. 331,217.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, CHESTER A. COL-VIN and JOHN O. GODDARD, citizens of the United States, residing at Little Rock, in the county of Pulaski, State of Arkansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Subsoiler Attachments for Flows; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art. to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The present invention is directed to improvements in sub-soiler attachments for plows, and has for its object to construct a device of this character capable of being readily attached to a conventional form of plow.
A further object of the invention is to provide novel means for connecting the beam of the subsciler attachment to the beam of the plow.
With these and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure l is a side elevation of a conventional form of plow, equipped with the device.
Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the same.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 33 of Fil 1.
Fig. l is a top plan view of the subsoiler.
Fig. 5 is a sectional view on line 55 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 6 is a sectional view on line 66 of Fig. l.
hand side of the beam while the ribs 8 A on the left hand side thereof are engaged by the clamping plate 9, the ends of which are connected to the adjacent ends of the jaw plate by bolts 10. Thus it will be seen that and through the upper end of the barll, whereby the same i firmly clamped therebetween as clearly shown in Fig. 5 of the drawing. It will be of course understood that the clamp 12 is adjustable on the beam 2.
It will be understood that the subsoiler cuts the earth below the furrow formed by the usual plow. soiler forces the soil upwardly and rearwardly, after which it falls into the furrow so that clay will be positively prevented from being deposited on the surface.
hat is claimed is A subsoiler attachment for plows comprising a pair of spaced clamping sleeves adapted for engagement with the beam and standard respectively of va plow, a brace pivoted at one end to the former sleeve and a supplemental beam carried by the latter sleeve and having a standard into which it The moldboard of the submerge and which is provided with a share,
said brace being pivoted at its other end at the point of merger of said supplemental beam with its standard. I i In testimony whereof We aflix our signatures, in the presence of two Witnesses.
CHESTER A. COLVIN. JOHN O. GODDARD. lVitnesses Geo. W. CLARK, CARRIE MCDONALD.
