IMPROVEMENT IN TUBS FOR HANDLING COAL.

We do not claim any improvement in. the form of the tub, which is of the scoop form, nor do we claim the self-dumpin g or operating 7 latch as new when singly constructed; but the novelty consists in so connecting the latches on both sides of the tub so as to be operated as one, and the tub dumped from either side, instead of being compelled to turn the tub to reach the latch.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- Thelatches F F, connected and secured to the tub A, and adjusted to the bale B at both sides of the tub. I

In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a tub, with latch, 850., complete. Fig. 2 is a top View of the latch complete.
In Fig. 1, A is the body or tub, which is of scoop form. B is the bale from which the tub is suspended,-and attached at such point, as at C, so that the greatest weight of the tub, when empty, is in the direction of D. Thus its own weight will always keep it in upright position. But when filled with any material the greatest weight will be on the opposite side of the bale say at the point E-hence, when filled, will discharge or dump itself as soon as detached, after .Which the weight of the tub will immediately bring it into upright position again.
