DRAINAGE-BOTTLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 19, 1918.
Application filed February 9, 1916. Serial No. 77,281.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IVILLIAM F. Worrono, a citizen of the United States, residing at Stratford, in the county of Sherman and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drainage-Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to new and useful improvements in drainage bottles.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a drainage bottle which may be easily attached to or detached from the person and which is used for draining foreign substances from a wound in which a drainage tube is used.
A further object of the invention is the provision of means for adjusting the bottle, so that it will fit persons of different sizes.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of an apron adapted to contact with the person and means for securing a bottle thereto.
With these and other objects in-vieW, the invention consists in the novel details of construction and arrangement of parts which will be more clearly understood from the following description and drawings, in which The figure shown in the'drawing is a perspective view of my invention.
In carrying out my invention I provide an apron l which is formed of rubber and said apron is provided on each side with an ear or extension 2 and on the top with an ear or extension 3. Buckles 4 are secured to each of the ears or extensions 2, and a buckle 5 is connected to the extension 3, the purpose of which will be presently described. An opening 6 is formed in the apron 1 just below the ear 3 and the purpose of which will be presently described.
An elastic belt 7 is provided for encircling the waist of the wearer and the free ends of the belt are adapted to be engaged by the buckles 4. An elastic strap 8 is connected at one end to the belt 7 and the opposite end is adapted to be engaged by the buckle 5.
A ribbon or string 9 is adapted to be secured to the apron 1. and is adapted to enneck or mouth may be made of heavier rubher for reinforcing.
Having described the detailed construction of my device, it is thought'the advantages and mode of use will be clearly understood.
As previously stated in the object of my invention I propose to provide a sanitary drainage bottle adapted for draining pus or other impurities from a wound, such as those caused by operations upon the various parts of the body. /Vhen it is desired to use my bottle the apron 1 is placed in the most convenient place upon the body and the belt 7 will encircle the waist or other portion thereof. The strap 8 is adapted to pass over the shoulder to more securely hold the apron in position' By passing the ends of the belt and strap through the buckles 4 and 5, the same may be adjusted to fit persons of various sizes. The bottle 10 is then secured in position by means of the ribbon or string 9. The drainage tube leading from the wound passes through the opening 6 in the apron and the end passes into the bottle 10.
From the above it will be seen that I have provided means whereby the device may be quickly and easily attached or detached for cleaning purposes and will be comfortable to the wearer. The bottle being attached to the apron will allow new bottles to be substituted without removing the apron. By providing such a bottle and apron, I do away with all obnoxious odors resulting from the discharge from the wound.
Having fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure Letters Patent is:
A drainage bottle including an apron pro vided with an opening therein, said. apron having its lateral margins adjacent its upper ing one end secured to said Waist strap and end, extended to form laterally projecting the opposite end buckled'to. said vertical ear.
ears, avertically extending ear formedon In testimony whereof I afiix my signature the upper end of said apron, a bottlesecured in presence of two Witnesses.
to said apron and positioned below said WILLIAM FILLMORE WOFFORD. opening, buckles secured to said ears, a Waist lVitnesses: V
strap having its opposite ends buckled to (1., H. ROWLAND,
said lateral ears, and a, shoulder strap hav- J OHN HOUSER.
