Be it known that I,'WAL'rnR'S. Pnoo'ron, a

citizen of the United States, residing: at Candler, in the county of Buncombe and State of North Carolina," have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shaving-Brushes, of which the following is a specification. 1

My invention relates to improvements in shaving brushes, of the type'having means for holding soap, and suitably discharging the same into the bristles.

An important object of the invention is to provide a shaving brush, which is characterized by its simplicity of construction, convenience in use, durability, and cleanliness.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description.

In the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 10 desig-, nates the handle of my improved brush as a Whole, said handle being formed in longitudinal halves 11, which may be glued or otherwise secured together at the line 12.

The handle 10 is provided with an outer enlarged portion or knob 13, an intermediate reduced portion 14, and an inner enlarged portion or head 15.

The intermediate reduced portion 14 is provided with an annular groove 16, which leads, at diametrically opposite points, into a longitudinal opening 18, formed in the handle 10. As clearly shown in Fig. 3, the opening 18 has oppositely arranged flat side walls 19, and oppositely arranged curved edge walls 20. The edge walls 20 intersect with the annular groove 16. As shown in Fig. 5, the walls 19 are continuous throughout their entire length, whereby the outer detail section taken on line amount of and inner portions of the handle are in effect integral.

Disposed ing 18 is a plunger rod 21, having oppositely arranged fiat sides 22 and oppositely arranged curved'threaded edges 23. The screw-threaded edges nular groove 16, as shown in Figs. 2 and 4c.

R-igidly attached to the inner or forward end of the-plunger rod 21 is a plunger 24, operating within a cylinder 25, screwthreaded within the head 15. This cylinder is adapted for the reception of soap, in a liquid, plastic, or powdered form, and has an opening 26 to discharge the soap into the bristles 27 of the brush, which may be socured to the cylinder 25 by any suitable means.

The plunger rod 21 is reciprocated by means of a nut 28, preferably formed in longitudinal halves, which are glued or otherwise secured together at the line 29. This nut is arranged to operate within the annular groove 16, and is internally screwthreaded to engage with the screw-threads 23. From the foregoing description it is obvious that while the brush is held in the hand and in the act of applying the soap or 28 may be conon line 3-3 of Fig. 1, veniently manipulated Without interfering taken on line H {with the employment of the brush in the application of the soap to the face, to move the plunger and discharge an additional soap from the cylinder 25.

' It is preferred that all parts of the brush, except the bristles, be formed of hard rubber or composition.

It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size and arrangements of parts may be re sorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.

Having thus described my invention, I claim 1.
