JESSE H. ALLEN, 0F COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF T0 B. S. MILLER, 0F COLUMBUS, GEORGIA.
LUG-STRAP SUPPORT.
Application led April 24, 1917.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JEssE H. ALLEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Columbus, in the county of Muscogee and State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lug-Strap Supports, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a support for lug straps and is designed to take the place of the usual leather hold up strapsv now commonly in use, and which frequently break.
I am aware of the fact that other forms of support than the leather straps have been provided in some cases but they allow a certain amount of wear on the picker stick which is usually made of wood. My device also allows for proper adjustment and is practically indestructible, for While it might be broken, it would not become either worn or broken under normal working conditions.
The invention consists in the novel features of construction hereinafter described, pointed out in the claims and shown in the accompanying drawings, in Whichzl Figure 1 is a side elevation showing the device in use.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the form employed on the picker stick.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the device to be applied on' the picker lever.
In the drawings l designates the lug strap, 2 the picker stick, and 3 the picker lever.
My invention is a closed metal guard which is applied to the stick and lever respectively and which receives the ,end portions of the lug strap.
I prefer a slightly different shape between the guard as applied to the picker stick and Specification of Letters Patent.

to the lever, but both are essentially closed loops.
To the picker stick is applied the form shown in perspective in Fig. 2 and which consists of a guard or portion 4 having a base 5 that extends beyond the ends of the loop and lies flat on the picker stick. The extended portions are longitudinally slotted as at 6 and screws 7 passing through the slots permit adjustment and serve as securing means for the guard.
On the lever is placed a loop 8 having a flat base member extended as at 9 and longitudinally slotted as at 10 and adjustably secured to the picker lever by screws 11.
The guards or closed loops and the bases thereof are of metal. The base portions prevent any rubbing of the lug strap against the lever or picker stick.
The advantages of these devices will be obvious to those skilled in the operation of looms of the type to which the invention might be applied.
lhat I claim is:
l. The combination with a picker stick, a lug strap support comprising a closed metal loop having a continuous flat base resting onsaid stick, rigidly secured thereto, and extending beyond said loop, the projecting portions being longitudinally slotted.
2. The combination with a picker stick, of a lug strap support comprising a closed loop having a fiat base, said base resting on one side of the stick, the base extending beyond oppositeends of the closed loop portion, said extending portions being longitudinally slotted, and retaining screws passing through said slots.
In testimony whereof I aiiX my signature.
JESSE H. ALLEN.
