APPLICATION FILED MAR- 7.1917
LQSWQWU I PatentdAng. 14,1917.
WALDEMAR KOIPS, or NEW YoRK, n.1, 'ASSIGNOR T KOPS BROTHERS, or NEW YORK,
- n. Y., A FIRM.
BRASSIERE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 14, 1917.
I To all whom it may camera:
Be it known that I, WALDEMAR Kors, a
. citizen of the United States, residing in the State of New York have invented an borough of Manhattan, city, county, ind
mprovement in Brassleres, of which the followingds a specification. v
I am aware that the use of brassieres or corset covers is now, and for some time past has been more or less general, and consequently articles of this kind by themselves are not new. I am aware also, that heretofore various forms of bust supporters have also been used, including a bust supporter so constructed as to be adjustable to posi tion on the body of the wearer. In the case of the brassiere a separate garment is used, as is also the fact with the bust supporters, and consequently, when either a bust supporter or a corset was used together with the brassiere, there was the necessity of placing and adjusting two garments to position on the body. Furthermore, in many of the bust supporters heretofore employed, more particularly to the one to which I have referred, the adjusting devices are such as to be readily observed through a thin waist'or other outer garment when no brassiere was used between the two, making it necessary consequently, to employ a brassiere or extra garment between the bust supporter and the outer garment if the adjusting devices of the bust supporter were to be unobserved.
The object of y present invention is to overcome the hereinbefore named disadvantages in the use of bust supporters and brassieres, by combining with a brassiere a bust supporter so constructed as to be adjustable to position within the same as Will be hereinafter more particularly described.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is an elevation of the inner side of a brassiere and bust supporter made in accordance with my present invention.-
Fig. 2 is an elevation showing the application of the same when in use on the body.
Referring to the drawing, it will be seen that in carrying out my invention the brassiere consists of a member made of any suitable fabric or lace, or both, which may be made in halves as indicated at 10 and 11, the halves being secured together at the back or rear of the garment along a .line of sewing, indicated at 12. The front; edge of the one half 10 may be provided with buttons and the front edge of the other half 11 wlth button holes 14: by means of which the front edges of the garment may be connected when in position for'use. The bras "slere as 1s also customary may be provided in each half thereof with shoulder straps 15 and 16. -While I have herein shown and described the body of the brassiere as made in halves it will be understood that it may be made from a single piece of material or divlded lnto any desired number of parts.
In each half of the brassiere as illustrated,
.I employ a suitable bust form so secured thereln as to be adjustable to position on the body of the wearer. In the brassiere body half 10, an anchor strap 17 is secured along substantially the axillary line or that extendlng-longitudinally of the body immediately below the arm pit. This anchor strap may be secured to the inner side of this half of the brassiere in any suitable manner, and so as to have one edge thereof free" from the garment in whichedge there is a series of eyelets -18. In this half of the brassiere there is a bust form indicated at '19. This,
closely conform to the body of the wearer,
I prefer to make it of elastic fabric. At the inner end of the bust form 19 the same is provlded with a strap 20 in which in suitably spaced positions the corresponding ends of the laces 21 are secured. Each of these laces is threaded through one of the eyelets 18 in the anchor strap and the other endsof the laces are brought together and secured 1n a Junction strap indicated at 22 to which is also secured a tape 23. .This tape 23 as illustrated, may be passed through a tape hole provided therefor in a tab 24. The opposlteor front edge of thebust form is provided ,with a front strap 25 along which in suitable positions there are secured eyes 26.
Similarly in the other half of the brasslere body there is an anchor strap 27 fixed therein substantiallyin the other axillary line and provided along its free edge with a series of eyelets 28. In this half of the brassiere body there is a bust form 29, similar in all respects to the bust form 19 and thereforefitted along its inner or rear edge with a strap 30 to which in suitable positions the corresponding ends of laces 31 are fixed. Each of these laces 31 is threaded through
