Snx'rox, a citizen the vllnited States, and a resident of San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Collapsible Buckets, of which the following a specification.

My present invention relates generally to buckets. and more particularly to a collapsible bucket intended for use as an army water pail or as a handy camping, automobile, and motorcycle pail, my object being` to provide a simple, strong, and serviceable construction having the advantages in construction and useas hereinafter particularly pointed out with respect to the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a detail perspective view illustrating the practical application of my invention.

Fig. 2 is a vertical section through a pail constructed in accordance with my invention.

Fig. 23 is a detail horizontal section taken substantially on line 3 3 of Fig. 2, and

Fig. -l is a detail perspective view of the bucket, collapsed.

Referring now to these figures, my invention proposes a collapsible bucket having a flexible base circular in form, and the outer edge portion of which is folded downwardly and in liatwise contact with the inner lower edge of the circular flexible wall 11, the edges of which base and wall thus contacting, being respectively seen at 12 and 13 particularly in Fig. 2.

A flexiblel reinforcing member 14 is bent around the contacting edges 12 and 13 of the base and wall, and is secured thereto by a plurality of lines of stitching, seen at 15 in Fig. whereby to permanently join the said edges of the base and wall in watertight relation in addition to reinforcing their connection.

By reference particularly to Fig. 2, it will be noted that the circular wall 11 flexible in its nature, is gradually tapered from its lower edge connected to the base 10, to its upper open end, being substantially smaller at its said upper end and having its upper edge turned back and securely stitched as at 16.

vided with flattened upper and lower ends respectively secured to the upper and lower ends of the body of the bucket by rivets 18 and 19, it being noted that the lower rivets 19 pass through the flexible reinforcing strip 14C as well as through the engaged of the base 10 and wall 11.

rThe upper rivets 1S pass through the turned back upper edge of the body or all 11, and certain of these upper rivets 18 also pass through the extremities of a flexible handle 2O as particularly seen in Fig. 2, the flexible nature of which, with the flexible nature of the wall 11 and the base 10, pei'- inits the luicket in disuso to be collapsed and rolled, for instance to Ythe form shown in Fi -l, so that it may be adapted to a minimum storage space within a camp kit, blanket roll, or automobile seat box as desired, in certain ofthe uses as above mentioned among the great variety to which my invention is susceptible.

lt is to be observed, therefore, that the reinforcing rods 17 are of material assistance in the use of the bucket without interfering with the collapsing and rolling thereof, and that they not only sustain the circular wall 11, but they reinforce-the lower connected edges of the wall and the base 10, and also serve to reinforce the connection of the flexible handle 20.

lt is to be further observed that the particular shape of the body of my improved bucket, tapering as shown and previously mentioned, enables the same though flexible in its nature, to readily sustain its load when placed upon a suitable support.

lt is to be understood, of course, that my improved bucket may be formed of any suitable material, such as canvas, leather, or in fact any material capable of. holding water and sufficiently flexible in its nature.

1. A collapsible bucket having a flexible circular wall and a flexible base, the outer edge of which is secured in fiatwise contact against the lower inner portion of the wall, a flexible reinforcing strip secured around the said connecting edges of the wall and base, a plurality of vertical spaced rigid reinforcing members extending along the wall, rivets securing the said reinforcing members to the upper and lower edges of the wall, the rivets at the lower ends of said members extending through the connected edges of the wall and base and through the said flexible reinforcing strip, and a liexible handle through the extremities of which certain of the rivets at the upper ends of said rigid reinforcing members are extended to secure the handle in connection with the body.

2. A collapsible bucket having a flexible circular wall and a liexible base, the outer edge oi' the base being connected in flatwise contact with the lower inne; portion of the said wall, a flexible reinforcing strip secured around the said connecting edges of the wall land base, and a plurality of spaced vertical rigid reinforcing members extending externally along the said wall, and rivets securing' y the upper and lower edges of said rods to the wall, the lower rivets being extended through the said connected edges of the base and wall and through the said flexible reinforcing strip.

5. A collapsible bucket having a flexible base and a flexible circular wall secured at its lower portion to the base and` tapering toward its upper open end.

6. A collapsible bucket having a liexible base and a flexible circular wall, the latter being smaller at its upper end than at its lower end and secured at its said lower end to the base.

7. A collapsible bucket having a ilexible circular wall and a flexible base attached to' the lower end of the wall, flexible reinforcements around the upper and lower ends of the wall, and vertical reinforcements of rigid material in spaced relation around the wall and secured at their upper and lower ends to the said flexible reinforcements, the wall and base being otherwise freely movable to collapsed position.
