To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that CHARLES W. MORDEN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Portland, `county of Multnomah, State of Oregon, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Fixtures for Packages of Folded Paper or Other Material, of which the following is a vspecification.
The object of my inventionv is to provide an inexpensive wall fixture serviceable for holding toilet paper, or paper towels, put up in package form, particularly a package made up from a reversely Afolded continuous strip divided into partly severed sheets, and made with apertures to permit it to' be placed on the supporting member of my fixture. It is alsomy object, incidentally, to
provide foran automatic forward feed ofY the paper contained in thesfixture'by gravitation. My fixture is furthermore especially designed for holding the package ofpaper invented by me contemporaneously with this fixture.
The features of my invention are best understood by the description of the accompanying drawings:
Figure l is a front elevation of my fixture in its simplest form, and illustrates the prac# tical use of my xture;

I vwill describe the construction of the open or simple type of my fixture first. The wall bracket, a, is made o f resilient wire rod and comprises a cross bar made with ears a for receiving screws a2 for aiiixing to a wall. The ends of theJ bracket are formed into parallel supporting members or arms b, Z), preferably downwardly inclined so as to cause the paper mounted thereon to feed forward by gravitation; and the extremities of such arms are formed with in-bent portions c, c, constituting retaining means for the keeper g. The latter may also be made of wire, and the sides thereof are made with loops, as at h, 7L, so as to be adapted to be locked with said in-bent portions c, c, of the arms b, b, of the bracket. Back of the keeper g and slidably mounted on said arms of the bracket, a, is a back or gravity plate The latter is notched at its sides as at j, so that it maybe mounted on the armsbof the bracket, to do which the arms are sprung apart. To prevent the gravity plate, t', from accidentally coming olf the arms, b, it is made with lugs, as 7e (see Fig. 2a) at its sides, in which lugs are inserted locking pins Z. plate is not indispensable, but convenient. t may be substituted by a sheet of cardboard slidably mounted on saidarms of the wall bracket.
The in-bent extremities, c, c, of the arms I), b are so arranged as to be located over the unslitted portions connecting the sheets of the package; and the act of pulling the free end mof the overlying sheet forward will sever said connecting portions.

The paper package, n, to be usedin my described type of fixture is made as illustrated in Figs. 6 and 7. lt consists of aV conti'iiuous strip of paper reversely creased at m5 so as to form folds fm, m7, as illustrated in Fig. 7. rlhe creases are alternately spaced farther apart and brought nearer together so that'the-folds will be stepped progressively and the package will assume a parallelograuiic form confoiiniing with the-inclination given to the supporting arms 7), 7) of the wall bracket a. W hen soparranged, the slits or perforations ma of the strip will (as graphically illustrated by the dash and dot line m8 of Fig. 7) divide the package into a plurality of consecutive, folded sheets partially severed from each other, and alternately located at the top and bottoni of the package.
The paper package is inserted by springing the arms, b, of the bracket, a, sufficiently apart so that, their in-bent extremities, ci, may pass through the slots m4 at the sides of the paper package.
If it is preferred to inclose the paper package iii a case, then my fixture will be made as shown in Figs. 3 and 1l.

At the sides of the wall plate, o, are provided perforated lugs t, in which are inserted the inner, bent portions of the arms u, a, made of resilient wire, the front ends of which arms are formed with inturned portions as at u. The front n of the case is the equivalent of the keeper of my first described type of fixture. This keeperelement a has a space fw cut out through which the end of the paper strip may be drawn, as represented by the dotted line m3 in Fig. 4.; and the'keeper element a has inwardly projecting, perforated integral portions a3, lo'-` cated iii such cut-out part, through which the iii-bent ends u of the. arms u are inserted, as shown in Fig.3. The arms u are downwardly inclined so as t0 cause the paper to feed` forward by gravitation..
The top of the case, n, is locked to the top of the wall plate, o, by a locking device comprising an arrow-head lug o2 anda locking member 79 consisting of a pair of resilient arms made of one pieceof wire connecting al bow-like portion 79,2 by which the locking member is secured on a stud g on the plate p3, which is riveted to thel underside of the top of the case by a rivet r; The resilient arms p grasp the arrow head of the lug 02, as shown in Fig.V 5. Th'etop of the case has a key-liole a2 for inserting Va key s, made with oppositely projecting webs, which, when the key is turned, spread thearms 79` of the locking member apart, as shown inV dotted lines in Fig. 5, and thus disengage v said locking member from the lug 0,2.
The paper package'used for thisr typeA of fixture is of the same censtructionas that used for t-heopen type of my fixture.
A very simple type ofiny fixture, eni-V bodyiiig the essential features of the other types of my fixture aboveY described, 'is shown in Fig. 11. lt consists of a wall plate 2,'froin which projects a hook 3. The latter is made with a shouldered head 4c, ex-
tcriorly convexed so as to facilitate its insertion in the aperture of the package to be suspended from this fixture; the head 4 serving to keep the package from slipping off' the hook 3. A wire rod 5 is rotatably 1nsei-ted in the bore of the portions 6, 6 of the such apertures, when the strip is folded in the manner shown in Fig. 12, will be properly located for hanging the package 14C onlthe hook 3 of my fixture illustrated in Fig. 11. The pivoted rod 5 ofthe latter, and its arms 7,- 7, constitute the keeper operating to hold back the folds at the front of the package, but donot interfere with the tear- Y ing off' of the sheets 15, 16 of the package,
which tearing off is done by a side motion of the hand. ln placing the package 14 on its fixture, .the keeper ofthe latter is lifted above the hook 3, the package is placed on the latter, and .then the keeper is dropped against the face of the package. As sheets are torn off of the package, the keeper will follow, and in so doing continue to perform its function. p
rlvhe slots 17 at the sides of the strip 10 have no bearing on the invention; they merely are provided in practice for facilitating the folding of the paper mechanically.

I claim: Y
1. A package supporting fixture of the character described comprising supporting means;includingY a package; supporting inember, or members, a paper severing element provided at the extremity of the supporting member or members, such paper severing element alined approximately with the perfor-ations partially severing the sheets of the package, and a keeper for restraining the outer folds or sections of the package.

A package supporting fixture of the character described comprising supporting means including laterally located supporting members, a paper severing element provided at the extremity of the supporting members, such paper severing element aline-d approximately with the perfor-ations partially severing the sheets of the package, and a keeper for restraining the outer folds or sections of the package.
3. A package supporting fixture of the character described comprising supporting means including laterally located supporting members, the extremities of said supporting members being in-bent and constituting paper severing means, the supporting members being arranged to cause said in-bent extremities to be alined approximately with the pcrforations partially severing the sheets of the package, and a keeper engaged by said in-bent extremities of the supporting members for restraining the outer folds or sections of the package.
4. A package supporting fixture of the character described comprising supporting means including laterally located downwardly inclined supporting members, the extremities of said supporting members being in-bent and constituting paper severing means, the supporting members being arranged to cause said in-bent extremities to be alined approximately with the perforations partially severing the sheets of the package, a keeper engaged by said in-bent extremities of the supporting members for restraining the outer folds or sections of the package, and a gravity plate slidably supported on said supporting members.
5. A package supporting fixture of the character described comprising supporting means including laterally located resilient downwardly inclined supporting members, a paper severing element provided at the extremity of the supporting members, such paper severing element alined approximately with the perforations partially severing the sheets of the package, a keeper for restraining the outer folds or sections of the package, and a gravity plate slidably supported on said supporting members.
6. A package supporting fixture of the Copies of this patent may be obtained for character described comprising supporting means including laterally located resilient downwardly inclined supporting members, the extremities of said supporting members being in-bent and constituting paper severing means, the supporting members being arranged to cause said in-bent extremities to be alined approximately with the perforations partially severing the sheets of the package, a keeper engaged by said in-bent extremities of the supporting members for restraining the outer folds or sections of the package, and a gravity plate slidably supported on said supporting members.
7. A package supporting fixture of the character described comprising supporting means including laterally located downwardly inclined supporting members, the extremities of said supporting members being in-bent and constituting paper-severing means, the supporting members being arranged to cause said in-bent extremities to be alined approximately with the perforations partially severing the sheets of the package, and a keeper engaged by said inbent extremities of the supporting members for restraining the outer folds or sections of the package.
8. A package supporting fixture of the character described comprising supporting means including laterally located resilient downwardly inclined supporting members, a paper severing element provided at the extremity of the supporting members, such paper severing element alined approximately with the perforations partially severing the sheets of the package, and a keeper for restraining the outer folds or sections of the package.
9. A package supporting fixture of the character described comprising supporting means including laterally located resilient downwardly inclined supporting members, the extremities of said supporting members being in-bent and constituting paper severing means, the supporting members being arranged to cause said in-bent extremities to be alined approximately with the perforations partially severing the sheets of the package, and a keeper engaged by said inbent extremities of the supporting members for restraining the outer folds or sections of the package.
