To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CARL R. LENDLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Combined Skirt and Coat Hangers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to garment hangers and more particularly to combined skirt and coat hangers.

One of the principal objects of the invention is to construct a device of this character which will efiectively engage the waist band of the skirt so that the skirt will be held in suspended position similar to the position occupied when worn, thereby preventing any wrinkles or creases.

Another object of the invention is in the provision of a combined skirt and coat hanger of the character described which is adjustable to support skirts having varying sized waist bands. A

Further objects of this invention will appear as the following specific description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this application, and in which Figure 1 is a side elevation. Fig. 2 is a top plan view. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, the device is constructed of separate heads 1 and 2 preferably constructed of metal pressed into the proper shape with oval ends. Each member has a laterally extending ear 3 on its inner face provided with a threaded aperture adapted to receive the right and left hand threaded adjusting bar A having a knurled handle 5 centrally positioned thereon. Secured to each head are substantially U-shaped guiding members 6 and 7 which surround the outer or oval ends of the heads and are suitably roughened or serrated as shown at 8 to assure a firm grip upon the skirt so as to prevent the same slipping from the hanger. The opposite terminal ends of each guiding member are formed differently, one having its lateral edges grooved to receive the reduced terminals of the opposite guiding member so that the guiding members are slidably connected together and prevent the heads from turning with the screw.

The skirt holder thus described is supported upon a bracket constructed of a-single strand of spring wire, the legs 9 and 10 of which have their terminals secured with the heads 1 and 2. The bracket is constructed by bending the strand back upon itself and forming a supporting hook, then twisting the legs together extending the separated legs inopposite directions. Between the point where the legs are twisted together and the point where the terminals are connected to the heads 1 and 2, each leg is provided with a spring loop 11 which permits of the ready separation ofthe heads 1 and 2 as will be readily understood. The horizontal portion of each leg between the loop has mounted thereon shoulder pieces 12 for the reception of a coat. Removably pivoted to the terminal end 13 of the supporting hook is a bracket hook 14 by which the device may be supported upon an ordinary clothes hook or bracket.

What is claimed is 1. A combined skirt and coat hanger com prising a pair of semi-oval heads, a screw connecting said members and having right and left threads for causing a simultaneous separation or approach of said members, substantially U-shaped guiding members carried by the heads and having their terminals arranged to interengage for guiding the heads and preventing rotation thereof with the screw, coat supporting shoulder pieces carried by the supporting device and a supporting hook pivoted on the supporting devices.

2. A combined coat and skirt hanger comprising a pair of semi-oval members, means for adjusting said members toward and away from each other, a coat support comprising a single length of resilient material having its opposite ends secured to said members, a suspension hook associated with said coat support, and a resilient coil formed in said support between said hook and the said members to permit of the adjustment of the latter.
