IMPROVEMENT IN BLIND-FASTENERS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 119,266, dated September 26, 1871; antedated September 9, 1871.

To all whom it may concern: v

Be it known that I, GILBERT K. DEARBORN, of Smithfield, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, haveinvented an Improved Safety Blind-Lock and Fastener; and do hereby Adeclare the following to be a full and exact deseription, reference being had. to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification. f

The nature 'of my invention consists in coinbining with the usual fastener an end or arm,

which extends through the case and under thel hook C moves upon the'point o on the case A. Upon the inside of the window-casing is placed the staple E, and on the outside of the building the staple D.

Now, when the blind isv thrown open the hook C will catch under the staple D and thus hold it in position; and when the blind is closed the staple E will be caught between thelever C and hook B in such a manner as'to preclude the possibility of opening the blind from the outside; but by simply raising the hook B from the inside it is readily thrown open.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The arrangement and combination of the spring F, case A, hooks B and C with the extended end O', as shown, and operating substantially as described.
