Description

UNITED STATES PATENT QFFIGE.
IMPROVEMENT lN SPRINGS FOR MATTRESSES, &c.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 119,153, dated September 19, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM B. JUDsoN, of Poughkeepsie, inthe county of Dutohess and in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spring for Mattresses, &c.; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making apart of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the manner of joiningor fastening springs for mattresses, seats, &c., together, as Will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which-- Figure l is a planview, and Fig. 2 a side view.
A Arepresent the usual coiled-wire springs employed in mattresses, seats, &c. The upper and lower or top and bottom coils are made large and bent in nearly square form, and the springs are connected at the corners in the following manner: Diagonally across each spring is laid a strap,
against any possible chance of slipping or moving in any direction.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The combination, with the springs A A, of the straps B and O 0, metal plates D D, and rivets a a, all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have V hereunto set my hand this 30th day of August, 1871.
WILLIAM B. J UDQON.
