IMPROVEMENT IN BED-SPRINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 118,906, dated September 1:2, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HULL CHANDLER, of Bennington, in the county of Bennington and State of Vermont, have invented a new and Improved Bed-Spring; and l do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this speciiieation, in which- Figure 1 represents a side view of my improved bed-spring7 showin g the inode of application. Fig. 2 is a plan or top view ofthe same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
This invention relates to anew construction of springs placed into bedsteads for the support of the slats; and consists in applying to the spring a semi-cylindrical block and projecting guide-pin, as hereinafter more fully described.
A in the drawing represents the semi-elliptic springl placed upon the frame B ofthe bedstead to support one end ofthe slat C. The lower end ofthe spring has a hook, a, bent down into a recess provided for its reception in the supportingplate I). To the upper tace of the spring` is secured a transverse block, o, of semi-cylindrical form, as is clearly shown in Fig.1. The slat rests on this block, and can freely rock thereon, thereby giving more play and greater ilexibility to the bed-bottoni. From the block o projects a pin, d,
through a slot ofthe sla-t, to guide the same and prevent it from falling oli'.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The bed-spring A provided with the hook a., block c, and piu d, as described.
Witnesses: HULL CHANDLER.
