-In some States, for instance the State of lt/l assachusetts, there are laws preventing the threading of a shuttle by creating sucthe same with the month. These laws are made and enforced for sanitary reasons and by the use of the present invention, the shuttle may be quickly threaded without necessitating an operator to create suction through the side of the shuttle with the month. By the use of the present invention, the body of the shuttle is not mutilated or damaged by cutting, and boring hence the use of the device is an advantage to the owner of the shuttle.
The present device is an advantage to the I weaver for the reason that it will not break the warp yarn or or in operation.
The use of the present device effects a unthread' while running saving to the loom fixer in that the applicav tion offiannel, or felt for tensioning the thread is eliminated and the body of the shuttle is not damaged by tacking the matcrial to the same. The presentdevice is also of advantage to the shuttle maker in that it saves time in the manufacture of the shuttle and the device may be easily and quickly applied to the body of the shuttle.
From the above description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing it will be seen that a self threading, or hand threading device of simple and durable structure is provided and that the same may be easily and quickly applied to the body of a shuttle and when applied may be easily and quickly used for accomplishing the proper threading of the shuttle and while the shuttle is in use the thread is maintained at a proper degree of tension and may move freely through the de\'ice notwithstanding that the thread may have knots or other obstruction upon the same.
Having described the invention what is claimed is:
l, A shuttle comprising av body, a curl provided at the edge thereof, spaced partitions located in the curl at the opposite sides thereof, and a tensioning member loosely mounted in the curl between the said partitions, said member being pointed at one end.
2 A shuttle comprising a body, a thread guiding plate attached to the body and hav-. ing' an eye with a slot leading from the edge of the plate into the eye, the plate being provided at one edge with a curl, spaced partitions located in the curl, and a-tensioning member loosely mounted in the curl between the said partitions.
