To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE ROTTMAN, a citizen of the United States, and residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Moth-Bags, of

which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to mothproof garment bags and similar devices, and the objectthereof is to provide improved means for closing and securing a bag of this class and also for opening said bag when necessary.

The invention described and claimed herein is an improvement on that described and claimed in U. S. Patent No. 995,571, granted to me June 20, 1911, and is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure 1 is a back view of a moth bag provided with my improvement and showing the same closed Fig. 2 a front view showing the bag open; Fig. 3 a top plan view showing the bag open; Fig. l a top front view showing the bag closed; and, Fig. 5 a side edge View looking in the direction of the arrow 5 of Fig. 1 and on an enlarged scale.

In the practice of my invention I provide a bag a which is oblong in form and open at the top or one end. The bag a may be composed of any suitable material, or material such as is usually employed in bags of this class, and said bag is provided with bellowsshaped sides as shown at (1 and the opening in the top or one end of the bag is shown at a in Fig. 3, and for the purpose of this description the side a will be called the back side of the bag and the side a the front side thereof, and said front and back sides of the bag adjacent to the top or open end thereof are provided with parallel score or folding lines a and a on which said front and back parts of the bag may be folded, and the score or folding lines a and a form parallel strips a and a of said front and back portions of the bag.

The top strip a of the front of the bag is provided with horizontally movable slides I) having backwardly and inwardly curved hook members 5 and said slides are provided with longitudinal slots 5 through which are passed headed pins 6 which are also passed through the front of the bag, or the top strip a, thereof, and riveted or other wise secured therein, as clearly shown in Figs. 2 and 3.

The back of the bag is provided at the top or open end thereof, and below the bottom score or folding line a with a transverse plate 0 which is secured thereto and with which is connected an oblong link device (Z having a. central suspending hook (I by which the bag may be suspended in a closet, cupboard or other place from a hook, nail or other support, and in the operation of closing the bag, the top or open end thereof, is folded downwardly and forwardly, on the line a and then on the line a which produces the roll shown at e in Figs. 1 and 5, andafter the bag has been folded in this. manner the slides b are forced inwardly and the hook members 6 thereof overlap and engage the back of the bag as shown in Fig. 1, and this securely closes the top or open end of the bag in such manner as to prevent any insects of any kind from entering said bag.

In folding and securing the top or open end of the bag, as above described, no part of the securing means shows at the front of the bag and only the hook members 1) thereof show at the back, and the slides b may be moved outwardly, as indicated in Fig. 3, so as to open the bag by pressure applied to the ends 6 of said hook members which are preferably slightly curved outwardly for this purpose.

While my invention is primarily intended as a receptacle for the reception and preservation of clothes, it will be understood that a bag made according to said invention may be used as a package or receptacle for storing and preserving various kinds and classes of articles, and said bag may be made of anydesired dimensions.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A bag of the class described, said bag being open at one end and the front and back sides of said bag being provided adjacent to said endwith parallel lines forming parallel folding strips, the top folding strip at the front of the bag being provided on the from thereof with laterally movable slides having backwardly and inwardly curved hook members which enter the spaces between the ends of the folding strips at the opposite sides of the bag when said bag is closed.

2. A bag-of the class described, said bag being open at one end and the front and back 5 sides of said bag being provided adjacent to said end with parallel lines forming parallel folding strips, the top folding strip at the front of the bag being provided on the front thereof with laterally movable slides having 10 backwardly and inwardly curved hook members which enter the spaces between the ends of the folding strips at the opposite sides of the bag when said bag is closed, and the back of the bag being also provided at the top or open end thereof and below said folding strips with a suspending device.
