To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that we, Gnoncn F. Srsowna, a citizen of the United States, residing at East Orange, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, and Louis EDWARD Prrfronr, a. subject of the Kingaof l'taly, residing at New York city, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mattresses, the following being a full, clear, and enact disclosure of the one form of our invention which we at present deem preferable.

For a detailed description of the present form of our invention, reference may be had to the following specifica-tion and to the accompanyin drawing forming a part thereof, in which- Figure 1 is a plan view of a mattress containing our improvement with the depending sides of the upholstery portion thereof shown as extended horizontally. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the mattress. Fig. 3 is a transverse section thereof on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2 and Fig. d is a detail sectional view on line il-4 of Fig. 3.

Our improvement upholstered cover of a box-like form adapted to rest upon and inclose a metallic structure including a frame formed of rigid side bars and elevated end bars, with -a metallic spring mattress fabric stretched between said end bars,.A and supplementary helical springs beneath it supported on cross pieces resting on the side bars.

W'hat we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters l?atent is: Y

1. A separable mattress cover for a metallic spring structure comprising a padded tcp having extensions forming iieXible depending sides, and a rigid reinforcing frame saspended by the said sides.

2. A separable mattress cover for a niet-al` lic spring structure comprising a padded top having longitudinal and lateral extensions forming flexible depending sides and a rigid reinforcing frame suspended by the said sides.

3. A mattress cover of the character described comprising a padded top having ertensions forming flexible depending sides and ends, rigid bars secured to. the lower edges of said sides and ends, and angle Eieces connecting contiguous ends said ars.
