To all whom t may concern Be it known that LEAY C. HAYnsga citi zen of the United States, residing at Altamont, inthecounty of Albanyand State of New York, have invented. certain new .and useful improvements intCollapsble Buckets, of which the following isaspecilication.

it is the object of this invention to `provide a bucket which maybegrasped and held by one hand while water isbeingtranserred `therein :trom afsouroe of-supply to a .point of deposition.

It is one of*thespecialobjectsof myinvention to provide a liandeg-nasp lbucket which is especially adapted .tosbe held by :one hand under theniouth oa-pump or dipped into asupply @tewater `for `lling a radiator tank oigan automobile, or for other purposes for which such aidevioe may be advantageously utilized.

A further object otiny invention is to provide a bucket of this kind with a pouring spout to `facilitate emptying vor-pouring the contents of the bucket into an intake oat relatively small size.

A still further obj ect is to provide a bucket of this character with stiening means which is proportioned to at least equal one dimension of the body of the bucket so that the latter may be folded about the stitiening means as frame, into a fiat condition so as to be carried in the pocket of the user or in a pocket in the automobile or car.

The object of this invention is to provide a bucket which is adapted to be manipulated and held and carried by one hand grasped about the stiening means thereof, in contradistinction to those forms of bucket in which the open top is of such area that bails or special handles are necessary.

Other features and objects of this invention will be more fully described in connection with l the accompanying drawing and will be more particularly pointed out and ascertained in and by the appended claims.

One of the novel features of this invention resides in the construction oi the stitiening means whereby the same at one end portion of the bucket will lie between the tingers and palm of the hand ot the user so as to be grasped thereby, whereas the other portion will serve as a pouring spout to facilitate pouring the contents into an intake of relatively small size.

As illustrated, that portion indicated at 8 is proportioned so that it may be grasped between the palm and the fingers of the hand whereas thatA portion indicated at 9, converges to form a pouring portion or spout. Thus in use, the bucket can be held in the right hand while it is being lilled and can be tilted from the position shown in Fig. l, to an inclined position, when it is desired to pour the contents of the bucket into a receiver.

The length of the spread or stiltened open portion, from the left to the right of Fig. l, equals one dimension of the body portion 1 so that it may act as a frame or a t'orm about which the body portion may be folded into a relatively flat condition. Thus a more compact structure results than would be the case if the bucket or body portion were promiscuously collapsed and the tolded Aarticle `can be readily inserted into a pocket of relatively small containing capacity. Furthermore, in folding the bucket as indicated, the wet interior, including the open top, will lie beneath a number of folds of dry exterior portions of the body portion so that small quantities of water will be prevented from spilling into the pocket into which the bucket has been inserted.

It will thus be seen that the device of my invention is wholly different from those containers and buckets which have open tops or such areas that a bail is required in order to carry the same, or of such areas Where when a bail is omitted it is necessary to carry the same with two hands. In other words, one of the distinctive features of my invention resides in a` construction whereby a single hand-grasp is sufiicient to not only carry but manipulate the bucket.

While I have herein shown and described one specific form ofl my invention, I do not Wish to be limited thereto except for such limitations as the claims may import.

1. In a collapsible bucket, the combina-- tion of a containing body of foldable material having an open top, means for stiffen ing and holding the top open and proporl tioned to be grasped between the palm and lingers of the hand of the user, the stiffening means being equal to the body in one one direction than the other, substantially as described.

2. In a collapsible bucket, the combination of a containing body of exible material having an open top, stiffening means associated with the upper marginal edge of said body of such shape as to snugly iit between the fingers and palm of the hand of a user, said stiffening means converging at one end and shaped to conform to said body and provide a mouth therefor.

3. In a collapsible bucket, a containing body of iiexible material having an open end, a stilfening rod on the upper marginal edge thereof, said rod being of elongated substantially elliptical contour and having a tapering portion formed to provide a mouth, said rod being of such shape as to be readily grasped between the fingers and palm of the users hand.
