'Be it known that I, JOSEPH FIALA, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Suction-Pump, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a suction pump and more specifically to a device of this character particularly adapted for clearing the air tubes and tracker bar of a pneumatic player action.
It is the principal object of my invention to provide a suction pump of this type which is more convenient in use and more effective in operation than the devices heretofore used for this purpose.
My invention accordingly consists in the provision of an improved device for guiding and alining the pump with the tracker bar and for preserving such alinement during the operation of the pump, togetherl with improved details of construction by which the pump is adapted to cooperate with the tracker bar in a most convenient manner.
A preferred form of my invention is shown in the drawings in which- Figure 1 is a side view of a suction pump partially broken away to show the interior construction; Fig. 2 is a plan view of the pump taken in a plane at right angles to that of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a partial end elevation of the pump.
As shown in the drawings, the suction pump comprises a body member 10 having an end portion 11 formed integral therewith and having a movable member 12 connected to the end portion 11 by a hinge 13. rlhe portions 10 and 12 are provided with operating handles 111-14 and the two parts are connected by the usual bellows member 15.
An opening 16 throughthe movable member is covered with a loose leather flap 17, these parts forming a suction valve of the usual form. The end portion 11 is provided with a passage 18 which is elongated in cross section as shown in Fig. 3.
As above stated, this suction pump is designed particularly for cleaning the air tubes and tracker bar of a pneumatic player action. ln order that the suction pump may lit closely over the tracker bar and may cooperate therewith in a more effective manner than has been heretofore attained, l form the outer end of the portion 11 with a concave surface 22 corresponding in curvature to the face of the tracker bar. l also provide the portion 11 with a projecting lip 23 adapted to rest upon the upper edge of the tracker bar. The lip 23 and the surface 22 may be provided with a cushion covering 211 of rubber or felt.
1When the lip 23 rests upon the upper surface of the tracker bar 20, the pump will be supported in the relative position shown in Fig. 1, in which position the passage 18 is alined with the tubes 19 and the pump can most effectively operate to clear the tubes. At the same time, the concave surface 22 fits closely over the convex surface of the tracker bar, making it easy to secure a good contact between the parts and to prevent the admission of air into the bellows except as it is drawn through the tubes 19.
Having thus described a preferred form of my. invention I do not wish to be limited to the precise details herein disclosed, but

A bellows forcleaning the tracker bar of a musical instrument comprising a body portion having an air passage through one end thereof and having a handle fixed to the opposite end thereof, and a movable bellows leaf hinged to said body portion and having a handle fixed to the free end thereof, said body portion having a projecting lip adjacent the end of said air passage, said lip beingadapted to rest against one side of the tracker bar and being effective to position the air passage of the bellows in hori- Zontal alinement with the openings of the tracker bar as the bellows is moved longitudinally of said bar.
