To all .whom t 'may concern:
Be it known that l, JOHN WAGNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county ofA Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful improvement in Stands for Supporting Christmas rlrees and the like, of which the following is a specification.
A My invention relates to improvements in stands for supporting Christmas trees and the like.
The obj ect of my invention is to provide a simple, strong and eicient clamping stand, which may be readily adjusted to suit trees of different diameters of trunk, which can not readily be overturned and which will stand without wabbling on uneven surfaces.
The novel features of my invention are hereinafter fully described and claimed.
ln the accompanying drawings which illustrate the preferred embodiment of my invention, Figure l is a side elevation of my improved stand showing the lower end of the trunk of a Christmas tree or a pole mounted therein. Fig. 2 is a top view of the same. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of one of the feet of the stand.

`'llhe stand` is provided preferably with three feet which are provided with clamping members adapted to be secured together by bolts.
Each foot is composed of a bar havin a vertical portion l, the lower end of whlch is inwardly turned to form an extension 2 upon which the trunk 3 of the Christmas tree is adapted to rest. From the upper end of the vertical portion 1, the bar extends downwardly and outwardly to a point 4 which is adapted to rest upon the floor or other support. From the point or portion 4, the bar extends inwardly and is secured to the vertical portion 1.
`Secured to the vertical portion 1 'of each foot are one or more transverse plates 5, preferably resilient, which serve as clampv ing arms for holding the trunk 3. When two arms are employed, they are disposed, as shown in the drawing, one above the other. Each plate 5 is provided with two holes 6 disposed one adjacent to each end of the plate and at each side of the vertical portion 1.
l do not limit my invention to the structure shown and described, as modifications, within the scope of the appended claims, may be made without departing from the spirit of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what l claim andv desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. ln a stand for supporting Christmas trees and the like, radially adjustable clamping feet each having a vertical or-v tion, and each provided with Va resillent transverse arm extending at opposite sides of -said vertical portion and provided adjacent to its ends with holes, one of said feet having an inward extension upon which the article to be supported is adapted to rest, and bolts extending through the holes in the ends of the arms which are adjacent to each other, the bolts being respectively provided 4with means for engaging said arms and drawing them toward each other.

3. ln a stand for supporting Christmas trees and the like, a supporting foot comprising a bar having an inwardly turned end adapted to support the Christmas tree or other article, said bar having a portion extending vertically4 upwardly from said end, and then extending downwardly and outwardly to a point ada ted to rest upon the door, and thennding inwardly and secured to said vertical portion, and a transname to this specification in presence of two verse reslhent clamping arm secured to subscribing Witnesses.
