To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, IVEsLEY P. ALLEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Russet, in the county of Johnston and State of Oklahoma, have invented new and'useful Improvements in Portable I-Ioisters, of which the following is a specification.

This invention is an improved portable hoister for use either on or oil trucks and for loading and unloading wagons and for other analogous uses, the object of the invention being to provide an improved hoister of this kind which may be readily assembled and disassembled so that it can be easily set up for use or taken down and stored compactly when not in use and so that the hoister may be transported from place to place.

The invention consists in the construction, combination and arangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings :-Figure 1 is a side elevation of a portable hoister constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view of the same on the plane indicated by the line a;a of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a plan of the same. Fig. 4 is a detail transverse sectional view of the same on the plane indicated by the line bb of Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is an elevation of the same with the parts disassembled and arranged compactly for storage.

In accordance with my invention I provide a pair of track beams 1 and also provide a pair of spacer blocks 2 which are arranged between the ends of the track beams. These spacer blocks may be of any desired width according to the required width of the space between the track beams. The spacer blocks are detachably secured between the ends of the track beams by means of bolts 3 and the said bolts also secure iron spacer blocks and the cuffs, I also provide four supporting legs or standards 5 the upper ends of which are reduced as at 6 and thereby arranged to be inserted in the cufiis a and to be held between the said cuffs and the ends of the track beams.

A carriage 8 is provided with rollers 9 which operate on the upper sides of the track beams and the carriage also has a depending hook 10 which extends down and is'arranged to travel in the space between the track beams. A hoisting pulley 11 of its lower end with a series of grappling hooks 18 which are detachably connected as at 19 to the hoisting table and adapted to be engaged with a wagon bed or body or with a load of any kind to be hoisted or lowered or moved longitudinally by the hoisting apparatus.

The hoister may be arranged over a wagon when it is desired to raise or lower the wagon bed or the load therein and if desired the hoister may be also arranged on trucks so that it can be readily moved, when set up. from place to place. I

By first removing the bolts 3, the supporting legs or standards may be readily detached from the cuffs and hence also from the frame of the hoister to-enablethe parts of the hoister to be readily arranged compactly and thus adapt the hoister to be stored in small space. Or the bolts 3 may be detached from the cuffs, the track beams and the spacer blocks so as to enable the hoister to be entirely disassembled. The legs of each pair are connected together by a pair of bars 20-22 which are respectively pivotally connected at their outer ends to the supporting legs as at 21-23. The inner portions of the bars are arranged in overlapping relation, the bar 22 has a staple 26 which passes through an opening in the bar 20, and said bar 20 has a hook 24 pivots ally mounted thereon asat 25 andqadapted to be engaged with the staple, to coactthere with in detachably securing the overlapped I inner ends of the pairs together.

Any deslred form or kind of hoisting element may be used in connection with my hoister and suspended from andcarried by the carriage Within the scope of my invention and I do not desire to be limited in this particular.

While I have herein shown and described a preferred form ofmy invention I would have it understood that changes may be made'in the form, proportion and construction of the several parts Within the scope of my invention.

Having thus described my invention, I claim In a device of the class described a pair of track beams, spacer elementsbetween the ends of the track beams, attaching elements on the outer sides of the track beams at their ends, supporting legs having their upper ends detachably secured in said attaching elements, connecting bars pivotally connected at their outer ends to the said supporting legs, arranged in partially overlapping relation at their inner ends and provided With means to detachably secure their partially overlapped inner ends together.
